Consistently solid food and prices
Submitted Monday, June 30, 2008 - 6:11pm [Dine in]

Rare to find a Japanese place actually owned and run by Japanese people. Because of that, has a lot more charm than most hole in the walls.

Food is good, nothing too fancy, just solid, consistent japanese fare from rolls to udon to rice bowls.
Their cooked fish dinners are tops on my list and is the kinda home cooking you won't find at other "sushi" places.
Prices are very reasonable as well.

Would go back for sure.

I'm chinese and eat at a lot of noodle and congee places both for dinner and lunch. This is one of the best in the lower mainland.
Very very good tasting food at good prices.
It looks like every other hole in the wall chinese place in vancouver so you don't expect much from the service, though it's definitely better than most - they actually have more than 3 waitresses in the place compared to other restaurants trying to keep the cost low or something and running with like 1 or 2 people.

Lombardo's Ristorante and Pizzeria970 Smithe St., Vancouver
Poorly run restaurant
Submitted Monday, June 30, 2008 - 5:45pm [Dine in]

Was there with a large party of ~25. Food took well over 1 hour to be served. It was a moderately busy night, but didn't warrant the long wait or they need to size the kitchen better for their seating capacity.
When the pizza's arrived, some were soggy from the ingredients sitting too long on the cooked pizza and others had undercooked crusts!
Pasta's were also underwhelming in taste. This was a common comment from others in our party who ordered pasta.

Finally, the temperature within the restaurant was also incredibly hot. When we talked to the waitress to see if there was a problem with the environment controls, she just said it's the pizza oven. We asked to talk to the manager who also dismissed our complaints and said take it up with the owner and left us the webpage and email address - to which we also didn't get a reply from with the above comments.
Would never go back and would not recommend as there are much better choices for your eating dollar.
