Decent AYCE for the price
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 10:47am [Dine in]

My friends love to eat here. I, on the other hand, is alright with it but not as enthusiastic about it.

For AYCE, it is rather cheap. Food here is decent but nothing especially memorable. It is quite busy at night, so it could be challenging to try to get the server's attention (for refills/new orders) but I am happy to say flailing my arms wildly seems to work. Not very attentive service, but it is expected seeing the number of customers and the fact that it is a Chinese establishment (as in all the employees are Chinese).

Decent Vietnamese establishment
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 10:39am [Dine in]

I live extremely close to this place, about 5-minutes walk or so; so I have eaten here for 7 or 8 times. They do have a pretty extensive menu but I usually eat alone so I have not tried most of them. The decor is rather tacky but there's a TV here so it was awesome during the Olympics.

I usually order the barbecued chicken or pork on rice with eggs. Those are pretty good, the meat succulent and very flavourful. Portion-wise it is average I guess. The spring rolls and salad rolls are decent, but nothing that blows me out of the water. The pho was alright I guess, again nothing too outstanding here.

In short, a decent place to eat if you are around the area.

Solid Vietnamese food place
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 10:29am [Dine in]

I went to the restaurant (which only says 'Vietnamese' on the signboard) with 2 family friends who have been there twice before on a Sunday afternoon (1-ish pm). The owner was so friendly it took me aback for a moment or two. He responded well to all our inquiries. The decor was not too bad - not fine dining level, but they definitely spent some time decorating the place. At that time, the restaurant was about 2/3 full.

My friends ordered some vermicelli soup or something which I forgot to try because I was busy taking pictures. They seemed pretty happy with the food. I ordered the pho with rare beef and tripes which I thought was very good even though I was not very hungry - the soup was flavourful but not exceedingly so and the beef was very tender and juicy. We also shared an order of roll dip (which is just deep-fried spring roll) and some skewer/spring roll combo on vermicelli, which were very tasty as well. I especially loved the fiery red (with the spiciness to match) chili dipping sauce they have which reminded me of a similar sauce we used in (non-fried) spring roll at grandma's place back home (M'sia).

All in all, a very pleasant dining experience. The owner was kind enough to show me the way to get to the flea market. I experienced nothing whatsoever described in the negative reviews. I shall return.

solid sushi place

I have been to this restaurant for three times. The okace is tiny, The waitress isn't that friendly, but the food is good and relatively cheap. You can more than enough sushi for less than 10 bucks. I especially liked the insane roll which has 3 kinds of fish, egg, cucumber, and crab (forgot the name of the roll) and the sushi with salmon and cream cheese.

Pulled pork! Eeek!
Submitted Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 1:09am [Dine in]

Amazing pulled pork, and I liked the fries too. The mashed potato's portion is too small though. One drawback is that my friends have to wait for more than an hour to get a seat. It was a Friday night and I was late, so no complains

Mediocre food
Submitted Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 1:06am [Dine in]

My friends and I went there for food during Chinese New Year. We ordered several dishes together and shared them. Overall, the food is below par, except for the fish head curry which is really well done. The rojak tasted weird (with a hint of tap water) and the ais kacang does not feel right: 1. The ice was too coarse 2. The atapchi was missing even though it was listed in the menu. The yee sang is kinda weird too. The fish is too little and it was served with plum sauce instead of being marinated with vinegar and other sauces. The place is clean and nice, even though I honestly think the colour of the washroom is too bright.

Cheap and good Japanese food
Submitted Sunday, January 6, 2008 - 4:31pm [Dine in]

I have been to this restaurant twice: first time for take out and second time for dining in. I find the food to be pretty good. It has some of the cheapest combos I've ever seen. For example, the 5.95 combo with 18 pcs of sushi. I was surprised to see the bad reviews below but maybe I'm just not as experienced in good Japanese food. Anyway I enjoyed both my meals (the second meal was a box with chic teriyaki, california roll, salad, tempura - 6.95). The service was alright, no surprise there, the waitress was neither rude nor friendly. The restaurant was clean enough, nothing fancy

Extremely well-done Malaysian food
Submitted Sunday, January 6, 2008 - 4:18pm [Dine in]

I've been there twice. Had a couple of different food like roti canai, nasi biryani with lamb, biryani with chicken, nasi lemak, and satay. I am a Malaysian and I can tell you that all of them are really good, especially the curry/rendang. The aroma is simply mouthwatering. Price is pretty reasonable. You can get a good meal at less than 10 bucks (nasi lemak or biryani are good picks). The ambiance is nothing to brag about. A few posters of Malaysia and some Malaysian songs. The restaurant is clean, neat, and bright. Highly recommended if you want to taste real Malaysian food
