overcooked pizza
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 10:52pm [Dine in]

if you're going to promote yourself as an italian restaurant you have to do pizza well. my pizza was over cooked and very scant on toppings, the only reason i ate it was because of the capers. the italian beer was good but that is not the doing of the restaurant, more so the brewery in Italy... not going here again.

Best Gourmet Pizza in Vancouver!

What used to be a Bread Garden is now a nice pizza place which seems to fit in the small street of shops on 1st Avenue just west of Burrard. I called in and ordered my gourmet pizzas then went to pick them up. The beauty of it was that it was ready in 20, which is half the time it's taken at other gourmet pizza places. The crust was not burnt and was also very delcious! The topping were not too greasy and made for a pizza that wasn't too heavy. It is expesive for pizza but it is definitely worth while, possibly among the best upper crust (pardon the pun) of pizzas in Vancouver, maybe even the Lower Mainland!

Good, but small.

A lot of the portions at this restaurant were a wee bit small for the prices they were given. If the tuna sashima pieces were bigger but had the same amount it would be much better priced. The food was delicious; The Shaking Beef was perfectly tender and succulent, the sashimi was nice and fresh and perfectly garnished, the duck breast was also quite except that it was only warm and not hot. The amount of filling you get with the lettuce wrap is hugely unsubstantial compared to the huge half head of iceberg lettuce you get. What was the most filling was the rice in the mango chicken curry, which helped in filling me up. Everything else was not as fulfilling as I had hoped. The decor and ambiance were great and added to the overall feel of the restaurant, very moody and dark.

Great place, great grub!

Probably the best burger I've ever had. I especially enjoyed the lamb burger. The simplicity of the menue and the choices makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Be sure that you have not eaten anything earlier in the day. You'll need at the room in your stomach for the juicy, delicous, and messy burgers.

No good except for non-international dishes.

I once stupidly thought that ordering a shrimp tempura noodle bowl would be a good choice at a joint more know for its burgers and shakes. DO NOT order foods that are from anywhere in Asia. I ordered shrimp tempura, once again a very daft move, and was riddled with horrid food poisoning which eventually led my puking into False Creek. The only reason I'm giving the food a "decent" is because their burgers are alright, no where close to the Burgers at Modern Burger, Veras or Crave.
