Beacon Drive-In126 Douglas Street, Victoria
Times Have Changed at a Victoria Landmark

I have enjoyed the soft serve ice cream at the Beacon Drive-In since I was a child. Walks with Grandpa through Beacon Hill Park or on the Dallas Road seawall always ended with a cone. I have returned over the years with visiting friends and now my own children, each time for a yummy cold treat. Unfortunately, while their frozen treats appeal, other menu items fall drastically short in quality, taste, presentation and value for money. September 2009 my guest and I each were served three small overcooked chicken strips, dry shoestring fries of the cheapest supermarket variety and one small foil topped dipping sauce, with a drink of pop, for around $12. When we requested additional sauces to make the strips palatable, we were informed it was an extra charge! I am extremely disappointed at the quality of food presented and the value for money provided. Definitely something to be remedied by this former favourite. Until then, I'll only be returning for the soft serve.
