Italian Kitchen1037 Alberni Street, Vancouver
Wonderful space and food, hostesses not so good.
Submitted Wednesday, January 20, 2010 - 10:55pm [Dine in]

I've been to Italian Kitchen a handful of times, the lats time being this past Sunday, and I found it be be quite consistent overall.

Food - From the salads, pastas to the steaks, the food has never disappoint. Price is acceptable. Atmosphere is hip. You get what you pay for.

The only issue I have with this restaurant (and it's been consistent), the hostesses are clueless. We put our names on the list for a table and waited at the bar, after 30 minutes and 2 drinks, she never came by (this was not a weekend). We went up to her and ask if our table is ready, and she said "Oh, I thought you were eating at the bar". Not once did she come up to us at the bar to officially check if we were eating. I also peeked at the computer screen and saw that she pasted our names a long time back.

For such a nice place, it is quite unfortunate to have hostesses like that. It sadly ruins the first and foremost experience. Perhaps they should hire hostesses with more experience, or girls that are not 18, and do not play with their hair every 5 minutes.

It's the place to be
Submitted Tuesday, December 1, 2009 - 1:17am [Dine in]

I was at Coast on a Saturday night with my girlfriends in October, and here's my thoughts:

Food - Like Italian Kitchen and Glowbal, acceptable. Drinks were great. I however, LOVED the lobster mash potatoes.

Service - I booked 10 days ahead for a group of 6 and I still got 9pm at night. Got there on time, and wasn't seated until 9:30. Our server was great - very helping on explaining the different entrees. Easy going, joked around with us, and good eye candy. Got a free dessert as well.

Value - Not cheap but not expensive. You're paying more for the interior and the scene than the food itself.

Ambiance - it's the place to be seen. Beautiful decor, amazing bar and lovely crowd.

Overall - Enjoyed my experience. I will definitely go there again!

Samba Brazilian Steak House1122 Alberni Street, Vancouver
horrible experience, bad manager
Submitted Tuesday, December 1, 2009 - 1:09am [Dine in]

I was at Samba Grill last Saturday, and here's my review:

Food was horrible - the meat was chewy and dry. Poor selection of meat. Buffet does not include dessert.

Worst service ever - the server we had took a long time to serve us drinks. The manager was extremely rude to us - we asked for a fork and not only was he annoyed (that was the first time I asked him anything), he came back with a wet and dirty fork.

Value - $32 dinner buffet was not worth it. I wouldn't even go there for $16

Ambiance - The place was dark and spacious, but it seems like you walked right into the 70s (if that's your style, then you should go). The dancers were decent, but it seem like they didn't even want to dance (but what do you expect, they probably work there 5 days a week).

Overall - I do not recommend anyone to try. The food is not fit for a human being. I'm surprised the manager isn't fired from the way he treats costumers.

Great from Sunday brunch and weeknight dinners
Submitted Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 9:22pm [Dine in]

I go to Feenies about once a month and everytime the food and service has always met my expetations, never great but never bad. I recommend Sunday brunch with your family. If you plan to go their at weeknight - plan on a noisy night. Once I've went their with my boyfriend, our entre took an extremely long time, but our waitress knew to make it up with a complimentary dessert.

Overall, I would recommend this place - worth my regular visits.
