Good burritos - Friendly Service!
Submitted Monday, April 19, 2010 - 2:30pm [Dine in]

I've been meaning to go here ever since I moved to the mount pleasant area in January, and today was finally the day! Very cute little hole-in-the-wall place... menu is all veggie with vegan options aswell, but from what I saw today, they don't just get the "typical" veggie crowd (I'm usually part of this group, so I hope nobody is offended by this lol!) The burritos are huge, and run from about 5 - 7 dollars. They sell taco's, quesadilla's and some sort of taco soup aswell. I'll definetly be back to try some of these items!

A couple things could be improved with this place....(nobody's perfect, right?)
- It could use a very VERY good cleaning
- The menu board says any orders of 30$ or more are subject to 10% gratuity. I'm rarely in agreement with these autograt policies, ESPECIALLY in a place that mainly does takeout!

Overall very good deal, good food, and friendly staff!

Rude server - mediocre food - terrible value
Submitted Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 8:14pm [Dine in]

My father in law took my husband and I for dinner here a few weeks ago. I was very excited to try this restaurant after watching it being put together on "opening soon", and after hearing good reviews. I've eaten at many indian restaurants in the greater vancouver area, and I'm sad to say that this was one of the worst. I don't even know where to begin....

The server we had was terribly rude. Didn't even attempt to crack even the smallest smile while we were there. The girl filling our waters was quite nice, but honestly topped off our glasses after each sip we took...not even kidding, every sip, it was bizzare. The food did come quite quickly, but was mediocre at best. I ate the smoked eggplant, and the cheese balls in a korma sauce. The only thing I could taste on the eggplant was the smoky flavor. The cheese ball dish was quite good actually, but the portion was so small I only got to have a couple of bites.

I would definetly not go back.

Quality and value seem to be diminishing....
Submitted Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 7:57pm [Dine in]

I use to go to chutneze all the time when it first opened. I enjoyed the large portions, the friendly service, and the value. The portion size is the first thing I noticed has changed lately... Tiny half scoops in the 2 plate dividers, and then some sauce on your rice...usually ends up coming to almost 10 dollars for the 3 item and rice combo. Are they aware that there are buffet restaurants in richmond and vancouver with a way better quality of food, as much as you can eat, for $10?

The one thing that keeps me coming back to this restaurant is the great family that run it. They're friendly, welcoming, and a pleasure to talk to. I hope they take any criticism that is posted here and make the necessary changes.

Great Value - Friendly Staff - Delicious Food
Submitted Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 7:52pm [Dine in]

My husband and I go to Himalaya everytime we're looking for a delicious indian feast! Me being a vegetarian and my husband being a meat eater, there are tons of options for both of us. My favorites include the chana masala, the lentils and the yogurt curry. My husband says the butter chicken is pretty tasty, and the pieces of chicken in it are quite large. The naan break and samosa's are always fresh and authentic. This is the absolute best indian buffet I have yet to go to in the vancouver area!!!
