Le Crocodile909 Burrard Street, #100, Vancouver
My favorite upscale restaurant in Vancouver
Submitted Thursday, March 26, 2009 - 5:24pm [Dine in]

I love French cuisine and Le Crocodile did not disappoint me - it exceeded my expectations. The food was wonderful - beautiful presentation and exquisite taste. All of the staff there were gracious, professional, friendly and helpful - they really know how to treat restaurant goers at Le Crocodile. The ambiance is lovely without being over the top or having an uncomfortable pretentious feeling. It is all about the excellent food here, which shines. The chocolates at the end of the meal were a nice touch. We ordered so much food and were amazed at how low the bill was - knowing how much we ordered - drinks, appys, main, desserts, coffee - and how high the quality of the food was. I will go back here as often as I can - mainly for special occasions. I hope to try a lunch here, as I have only been for dinner. The attention to detail in the food and service is amazing. This is my favorite French restaurant ever. Le Crocodile is a classic.

Fun, cute bakery shop

I tried the original vanilla cream puff, the coffee flavour cream puff and the chocolate fondant. All were tasty and good value as long as you realize that you are going there for an inexpensive, fun, unpretentious dessert. Supposedly the ingredients they use are mostly high quality natural and/or organic ingredients, which is nice. I will be back here to sample some of the other cream puff flavours. I liked that they used a novel way to make the cream puff with the choux pastry. The cream puffs were both fun and messy to eat -- messy in a fun way. I ate them while sitting down, which helped. I liked the Japanese atmosphere of the bakery - it almost felt like I was in Japan.

Kintaro Ramen788 Denman Street, Vancouver
Tasty treat-like ramen
Submitted Thursday, March 26, 2009 - 5:04pm [Dine in]

This is the place to go for rich, heavy ramen. Although, I stuck to the lighter side and ordered the lean pork and medium-rich broth. The wait time can be a factor sometimes, but I only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. I think I will order the lean broth next time, so I am able to finish off the whole bowl. The ambiance is lacking and one does not go here for that, but for the good value ramen. The servers are friendly and efficient and will come by to refill your water glass. I will be back, as the ramen is tasty and a good price.

Delicious ramen

I had the charcoal ramen with a side dish of pork gyoza and enjoyed it immensely. The presentation and taste of the ramen was great. The gyozas were not overcooked nor undercooked - they were just right. The servers were polite and friendly and the food arrived at my table within a reasonable amount of time. The ambiance was pleasant and relaxing. This is a good value restaurant as the quality of the food is very high.
