re-fueled... I don't think so!
Submitted Tuesday, January 19, 2010 - 11:45pm [Dine in]

I've had bad experiences at fuel, but decided to try again after the re-launch. The place still falls below par.
The service was awful. I think it may have been our waitress' first night EVER in a restaurant. Very insecure & didn't care about anything she was doing. We waited close to 10 minutes before even getting water, or having a drink order taken.
The restaurant was incredibly loud. We were shouting across the table and still couldn't hear each other.
The food wasn't that good. Calamari was actually very nicely done. Hazelnut pear salad, simple & bland. Lemon risotto- awful. Totally over cooked & had strange additive sauce, and WAY too much of it, making it totally soupy.
The waitress refused to take un-eaten plates off the table. Then brought us the bill while the plates were still on the table. I guess asking if everything was okay was a question she wanted to leave un-answered!
Will not return. Would not recommend. Luckily we bailed before ordering entrees and letting the lame experience carry on any longer!

Gross & Greasy
Submitted Tuesday, March 24, 2009 - 4:54pm [Dine in]

I dined here on a busy night. I was thankful to get a table without a reservation. I'm glad I ordered a nice bottle of wine, as it turned out to be the best bet in the restaurant. Had a crab salad- Salad was overdressed, the crab was tasteless, and there were only 3 tiny pieces of claw meat on the entire salad for $19. The burger was AWFUL. How is this the best rated burger.? It was SO greasy & messy. Not a lot of thought put into how this thing will be consumed, or how one will feel after eating it. I think there are still a lot of kinks to work out on the food here!

All around a waste of time!
Submitted Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 10:35pm [Dine in]

I had a reservation for a party of 3 on a week night.
We noticed right away that the table next to us was being ignored by the server, no drinks, no food and visibly agitated.
We sat without beverage for 10 minutes, and waited 20 until our wine arrived. The waiter was adding his two sense to our orders, finally telling us that we had "ordered enough food". We ordered mussels to share for the table, they took 40 minutes and were so bland they were not worth eating. Our entrees took 1 hour & 25 minutes to arrive. About 10 minutes before the meals arrived, the server brought out "HOT" plates for everyone. We then sat while the plates turned warm & then cold before the entrees came to the table. Every entree was lacking seasoning & innovation. The seafood was poorly cooked and tasteless. The server came to ask how the food was, we answered with "not great" and he walked away without inquiring further.
I then noticed the chef visiting a patron at his table. It happened to be a well known food critic who was receiving extra special treatment & seemed to be enjoying his dining experience.
We finally decided we had had enough and asked for the bill. We were ready to leave before any dishes were even cleared off our table. A server commented as we were leaving that we were "fast!" I'm not sure how many people have 2 hours to eat 1 course, but clearly I'm not one of them!

The food's so bad it NUTS!
Submitted Sunday, December 7, 2008 - 7:32pm [Dine in]

I ordered a dozen wings and fries. The wings were so tiny & had dark brown meat with purple bones. The fries were the most basic frozen boring fry around. These are the 2 main items at this restaurant & they were both awful. Staff & service was poor. I noticed a sign on my table advertising how these are the cheapest wings in the city. I would much rather they use some quality ingredients and charge more for a product that is half decent.

Cafeteria Food at best
Submitted Saturday, September 20, 2008 - 12:00pm [Dine in]

I went here with some friends for a casual burger & some drinks. On a friday night we were the only group in the restaurant. The food looked awful when it arrived at our table. Crab cakes as thin as pancakes with boring mayo sauce. The chicken burger was covered in mayo- on both sides of the bun, chicken was dripping in grease. Just disgusting. They were nice enough to comp the food that was inedible. Safe to say I will not be back!

sore jaw, pizza way too chewy
Submitted Sunday, April 13, 2008 - 6:16pm [Dine in]

I use to be a big fan of Nats. It hasn't been the same in years.
The pizza has gotten worse and worse. The crust is now so chewy that I actually have jaw pain after eating. My biggest compaint is the staff. Very unfriendly. I understand that they are busy, but everytime I have called, I got attitude from whoever answered the phone. A bit more tact is needed!

Best pizza in town
Submitted Sunday, April 13, 2008 - 6:07pm [Dine in]

This is truly the best pizza. Thin crust, great toppings, & fast service.
I have been eating pizza from here for years. Most pizza places in vancouver have gross toppings, bad cheese and very, very bready crust. Firewood oven is the opposite. Even the salads and pastas are good. Things I would never even consider eating from other pizza joints.
I praise this place for consistantly good food and service over the years!

Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar1079 Mainland Street, Vancouver
awful, awful food!
Submitted Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 11:30pm [Dine in]

I had lunch at Glowbal. Luckily I was seated right before a massive lunch rush arrived. It became clear within 10 minutes that the staff were not experienced enough to manage the situation. I was seated near the open kitchen which was in absolute shambles. The team was clearly not trained enough. The food reflected the hopelessness of the staff. I had to send back undercooked shrimp satay (which wasn't really even 'satay') I ordered tenderloin "medium". It arrived burned on the outside and very rare on the inside. When i sent this back the server gave me attitude. The tenderloin was then placed back on the grill by the kitchen and returned to my table really, really burned and cooked well done. I didn't eat this either, but instead of trying to comp my meal the waitress tried to smooth things over with a dessert offtering! I clearly still hadn't eaten anything, but she felt it was time for some dessert with a side of her attitude! The other diner at my table had canned crab meat crabcakes (yum) with salmon, which would have been okay had they not smeared beet like ketchup all over the fish. Why is this place busy? Should be a bar & not an eatery.

so.cial deli, not even so-so
Submitted Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 11:13pm [Dine in]

My first experience at the deli will be my last. Not at all what I had expected after hearing fuss over the sandwiches. The place lacks organization, ambience, care and quality. I can't stand cafes/ delis without a proper place to stand and wait for your order. This is one of them. Poor use of space causes patrons to stand on-top of one another in a cramped area waiting and waiting for mediocre sandwiches. The sandwich makers were careless, slopping so much mayo (oh sorry, "Aioli") and mustard all over the bread that it was dripping everywhere. Way too excessive! The bread was bland. The staff all seemed angry. I didn't even eat half of my food & felt sick after having eaten that much!
