Avoid this White Spot
Submitted Monday, August 25, 2008 - 2:43am [Dine in]

Expected the same friendly service as other White Spots especially being in Kerrisdale but the service at this one was very disappointing. One time, after waiting for over 5 mins and not being seated, we sat ourselves down in one of the many tables available that day (having view of the hockey game showing on TV). Then the waitress gave us attitude for sitting in that booth and told us to move to another one. We politely told her that we wanted to watch the game on TV so we did not want to move and she immediately stormed off mumbling words under her breath. Another time I ordered tea and found a transit transfer ticket dried up against the inside of the cup (I am not joking!). Overall bad service and dirty dishes/utensils. I would definitely try to stay away from this one but instead enjoy the other more friendly and service oriented ones.

Ajisai Sushi Bar2081 West 42nd Ave, Vancouver
Authentic Sushi Bar
Submitted Monday, August 25, 2008 - 1:43am [Dine in]

Authentic sushi. Always fresh and different varieties of fish available. Their seafood salad is one of their most popular dishes. Their menu is diverse and well thought out (for a sushi bar that is-- not that many cooked dishes). The sushi-chefs working in the tiny bar area are really masters of their craft. Prepare for long waits on weekends but every bit worth the wait.

excellent sushi... just keep your eyes closed

The title is pretty self-explanatory. The sushi at SushiBoy is really underrated. The cheery chef chooses only the best cuts of fish (always fresh and wild). He's a one-man-show so be prepared for displays of multi-tasking that might be frowned upon. Although the rice in the sushi is sometimes too loose and falls apart, the sashimi/ sashimi-salad is amazing (especially the hamachi and sockeye salmon). Just try to take-out the food and don't look around too much hehe.

Bad Service... Not-so-Bad Food
Submitted Monday, August 25, 2008 - 12:37am [Dine in]

BAD service might be an understatement... it was more like TERRIBLE service. We went to The Firewood Cafe on a quiet weekday and the staff didn't even acknowledge us or give us the courtesy of eye contact. It was really disappointing considering the food wasn't bad. If you want to try this place... stick to delivery.
