(3) (3.3) (2.6) (2.7)Giving this place a 4, or "outstanding" rating would be too much, but it is pretty good. They have good pub specials, the service is always good, and I've always had good food. Its your basic pub style, great place to watch sports as they have some of the best tv's on the Kits side.
This is a pub, and should be treated as such. If you want pub food and beer, its the best place in the area. Kings Head smells bad, Malones sucks and is only good for tourists and 18 year olds, Rossinis is for the above 50 crowd. Sunset has good food, really nice staff (hi Rick!) I've been going for abotu 4 years now and have maybe had 2 or 3 bad experiences ever. Very friendly, decent food, lots of TV's to watch the game and daily specials.
If they could make this place even a little better it could make a big difference. The staff are all early 20's (or so it seems) and care more about their own night's plans than the service they give. The drinks are OK, nothing to write home about. I live close and would love if they could improve this place, the patio is great in the summer and if the drinks weren't so bloody overpriced I would visit much more often. Food is good.
Sophies makes a darn good breakfast, but weekend line ups always deter me from going. No way am I waiting an hour for eggs benny - sorry thats an hour to get a table then another hour before food shows.
However, if you can walk in on a slower day they have really good food, higher than average prices but you get a huge breakfast. Nice to enjoy the patio in warmer times too.
Cafeteria style place, I've wanted to go for ages. What can I say, it was ok at best. Milestones does a much better burger, and you get to sit in a nice table not a picknic style table. I dont' recommend it.
If you dont mind a serve yourself atmosphere, and really enjoy texan style red meat, you will Love this place. We go every 2 months or so, its so good! Not the classiest place, but great food and friendly service.
I've been about 6 times total, since I used to live just up the street from Capones. Really hit and miss with food and service, but had my all time worst dining experience period there - I was so mad I wrote a letter to the manager about a month after the fact (was still bugging me) and I never even heard back. What does that tell you? The wait staff clearly have somewhere better to be than to be serving you....or so they would have you believe. Your money is definetly spent better elsewear.
