Frankly, I have had lots of Mexican food in the southern US. A friend of mine in Phoenix took me to what she said was the best Mexican restaurant she had ever experienced. A rough place full of rough people and dishes full of refried beans. Yuk!
Thank goos Tequila Kitchen is NOT that.
A truly sophisticated menu with wonderful prepared dishes.
I arrived early and sat at the bar enjoying the best Margareta I ever had while I waited for my date and the couple that would be joining us.
The bar tender was fun and really amazing as he quickly prepared what seemed like dozens of drinks in front of me. Everything was prepared fresh for each drink even down to hand crushing (with a tool not his hand) cranberries.
The place was lively with an amazing wide selection of ages in their clients. Great Mexican music. The staff really seemed pumped and the service showed. Not one of them seemed like they were just there to collect a paycheck.
I ordered the tasting menu which was really wonderful. It included a spicy soup which was wonderful. My girlfriend had the duck which was incredibly tender - I stole a piece. I can remember what everyone else everyone reported great meals.
I tried about five different drinks (wasn't driving) and they were all great.
The dinner reminded me of a trip that i took years ago to Brazil.
Highly recommended! I would truly suggest that you take a few minutes to connect with your server as they really know their stuff!
