Nice place but can't say the same about the food
Submitted Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 3:55pm [Dine in]

Don't bother. The ambiance and decor is the only thing this restaurant has going for it. The service can be a bit overwhelming and they really push on asking you to order a drink.

The food will get you full but isn't much of an enjoyable. I've been here twice now thinking the first was just a bad experience but the 2nd wasn't any better. The pad thai noodles were too dry and the green curry was less than flavourful. But they do have a great dessert when it's available ... if you venture out to this place try the sticky mango rice.

Never disappointed
Submitted Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 3:45pm [Dine in]

This place has never disappointed. The ambiance is quaint and romantic. The service is always very friendly and not too over bearing like other restaurants can be. The wine list is decent and waiters are always helpful in helping find a right pairing with your meal. I also love the refreshing citrus pallet cleanser that they give you before your meal, whether it's a lemon sorbet or lime jello.

Now to the food ... i love their caesar salad and they make it right at your table which is always entertaining and the way you want it. For the main course the lamb is delicious and i would definitely recommend it. We also had the duck breast and i found it a little salty but my partner enjoyed it.

If you want a romantic evening with some great food and an overall great experience ... this is the place you have to check out!!

Small restaurant with big taste
Submitted Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 3:34pm [Dine in]

It's not unusual to find a line up to get into this small restaurant, but trust me it's worth the wait. The ambiance isn't really there and the tables are so close it feels like your eating with complete strangers next to you, but other than that this place is awesome!!!

Their specialty rolls are great prices and the quality of fish and freshness is always there. The paradise roll and spicy tuna roll are my faves and a definite recommendation. I've been to sooo many sushi restaurants around this city and this place is delicious!

No need to go to India for some good food
Submitted Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 3:28pm [Dine in]

This place is great. The food is incredible and the value is great. The service could use some improvement and although it's a small restaurant there's usually only one waiter doing everything - from serving, cleaning tables and cashier. The ambiance is nothing like the high end Vij's in Vancouver but at the same time it also doesn't come with the high end prices.

If you want a good meal I'd definitely recommend this place. Love their chicken tikka and their paneer stuffed naan. And their weekday lunch specials are great for under $10.

Always good
Submitted Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 12:56pm [Dine in]

This place is always busy and the all you can eat dinner is worth it b/c the beef sashimi is delicious. But the late night all you can eat is just as good and i don't find that the quality goes down at all for late night sushi like most places.

This place is always good and i've never been disappointed. At lot of other all you can eat restaurants aren't even half as good as Richmond Sushi and they charge the same.

The service is awesome... they're so quick and the food comes in no time. So if you're hungry then this is the place to go.

Don't settle with AVERAGE
Submitted Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 12:47pm [Dine in]

With so many restaurants in Vancouver, there's no use in settling for average. There are at least 3 other thai restaurants in the surrounding area that are better than this place.

Ordered the appetizer platter and the only good thing on it was the spring rolls, which were only decent and not as flavourful as most thai places. The deep fried tofu was so bland and they had one sauce for all the appetizers.

The pad thai was decent although the noodles were kind of dry and the coconut curry was probably the best thing we had but not all that memorable.

As for service, there wasn't really any. Waiter after waiter walked by and no one had even offered us a drink until our appetizer came and we had asked for some.

All in all the food is alright, the service is subpar and there are plenty of better thai restaurants on Robson.

Great seafood & ambiance
Submitted Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 12:39pm [Dine in]

I frequent the Fish House because I love their sablefish. Granted it's not a large portion, but I guess it's enough for me to come back again and again.

The ambiance is very quaint and the servers are always attentive. The wine list is extensive and they have my favourite bottle of wine, which is usually sold out in speciality liquor stores by the time I get there. So try the Cedar Creek Ehrenfelser.

Delicious!!
Submitted Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 12:34pm [Dine in]

This place has great food for a great price and that's probably why the wait for a table can be so long, but definitely worth it.

The servers were friendly and helpful and the restaurant is decorated quite nicely but it is small.

My friend and I went for all you can eat dinner and were stuffed but noticed that they keep a close eye on those that over stay their welcome and give people a 2 hour maximum. Which is understandable b/c the wait for a table was at least 40 minutes.

Other than that the food is delicious and i will definitely be going back.

There's better out there

I use to love coming to this restaurant, but it seems like it's only gone downhill. If the food was still good then it wouldn't really matter that the service is so terrible. But the food is nothing special and there's so many better japanese restaurants that are worth a try.
