hmmmm...higher prices for less
Submitted Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - 11:50am [Dine in]

I have always enjoyed dining here and have many times since it opened and recommended it highly to my friends.. This time the first thing we noticed was that the prices were higher. We ordered our meals, there were 4 of us. The waitress was quick and efficient taking drink orders and our menu selection. I noticed on the entree section that it didn't list vegetables so asked what it came with, since you used to get a large portion of nicely prepared veggies with your meal. Well the food came, I'd ordered 1/2 rack of lamb. It was tasty and cooked to my liking. The veggies were 2 small broccoli stalks that were hidden under my lamb and a tiny pototo crochet. We were all shocked at the increase in price and reduction in the food. I am not a big eater and I was still hungry at the end of the meal. We were all highly disappointed and I will not be in a hurry to return unless I start to read some improvement in the quantity.

Also we were placed beside the 'wine cellar' and we were entertained by 2 employees chatting inside the door.

Dinner for 2
Submitted Monday, September 17, 2007 - 9:12am [Dine in]

I read the recent reviews and had been told by a friend that they'd enjoyed their dinner so we made a reservation for Saturday night at 6:30. When we arrived the restaurant was about 1/3 full and we ordered our wine from a delightful server. Shortly afterwards we received a fresh basket of foccacia bread with oil and balsamic vinegar...which was delicious. We ordered our meals .....they took quite a while to come but we had our wine and bread and the beautiful view of the ocean to keep us occupied ...mine was a good portion but the chicken parmesean was rather bland and dry from being over cooked with boring and again over cooked vegetables. My hubby had the pork loin special also lacking in flavour which came with pasta. I had the chocolate mousse dessert which I totally enjoyed and hubby had the tirimisu, which he said was delicious. By this time the place was packed, not a vacant seat in the house....I don't see that continuing if the quality and taste does not improve.

Enjoyable
Submitted Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 9:57am [Dine in]

I've eaten at the Watermark for lunch and dinner many times. I have never had a meal I didn't enjoy although I was terribly disappointed that they changed the dessert and drinks menu. The chocolate carmel brownie was the best dessert ever! Now for me the desserts are just average. I've tried a number of the martinis but preferred the previous ones. But there is an good selection of wine. My favorite is the curry chicken....excellent portion tasty and cooked perfectly accompaniedby rice with nice portion of veggies. My companion had the chowder, which he raved about. We had a wonderful attentive waitress and all in all another great experience with a fantastic view.

Great Lunch
Submitted Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 9:46am [Dine in]

I've eaten at the Hamilton Street Grill for a lunch a number of times and just last week had another great meal. The lightly battered and deep fried halibut, done to perfection with the best yam fries I've had, it was a generous portion with an excellent side salad with light tasty dressing. I ordered a martini which was delicious and the service was excellent. They were very busy and our order was promptly filled although there appeared to only be one cook at the time. I don't understand high end restaurants still serving regular potatoes or not offering yam fries as an option. The whole experience including the service was great and I'm looking forward to my next lunch.

This is a wonderful restaurant tucked away in Cloverdale. 4 of us had great meals and good service. It was packed so make a reservation. I'd love to go back and I'm looking forward to the lunch menu.

Always Enjoyed It.

We've enjoyed many a meal at Elizabeth's family run restaurant in the heart of Cloverdale. It's schnitzel menu is extensive, red cabbage if fabulous with pan fries. The steaks aren't the greatest but that's not their specialty. The dessert menu is wonderful (in a trolly and brought to your table, nice touch) and of course the service is great....enjoy!

Don't GO!
Submitted Monday, May 14, 2007 - 12:13pm [Dine in]

I read the reviews with interest as this place has been around forever and apparently are still as bad as when I was last there a number of years back. I don't understand why it's still open or how they get any good writeups in the local papers?? The meal and service were appalling and when we complained that the food was tasteless and cold the solution was to add a ton of salt and pepper. We complained again and asked to speak to the manager, no one came and when we left a message there was no response. It was an absolute nightmare evening. Tapas bar was slightly better, but not by much.

One Time Too Many
Submitted Thursday, April 12, 2007 - 11:49am [Dine in]

I hadn't been in years because the last few times I was very unimpressed with the quality and wait I vowed not to go back. But friends wanted to go so we thought we'd give it another shot. It had to be better and the place was packed. Well I have a shell fish allergy and most restaurants including seafood restaurants usually have some nice fish dish that I can eat. I told the waiter about my shell fish allergy...."no problem they can certainly accommodate that". So we are served our bread and 'lobster butter'....fortunately I hadn't eaten any by the time it was discovered and whisked away with much flourish to be replaced with ordinary garlic butter. Then I ordered the salmon wellington, again stressing shell fish allergy. Well guess what, it's full of shrimp...so there I sat while everyone else ate their dinner. The manager came to apologize and offered to bring me something else...arriving mediocre and cold. It was a miserable evening and stressed everyone out. I don't know what was wrong with the waiter but I certainly am convinced to NEVER go there again.

I used to go to this establishment as a regular.....absolutely loved the lamb lasagna! Then they shut down expanded and decided to get rid of my favorite food...no problem we decided to give it a try after it reopened. Well we arrived mid way between lunch and dinner and we given a paultry menu to order from. I really couldn't find anything that appealed to me and my husband wasn't impressed with the menu either. The fellow's that arrived after us took one look at the menu and were gone. We like the location so stayed and had a drink and mediocre pizza. I am so sorry it's changed and we won't be back.

Surprised but happy
Submitted Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - 12:26pm [Dine in]

I've been to this establishment a few years back and wasn't overly impressed, felt that for the price there were far better restaurants on the strip. We bit the bullet and went for dine out with another couple and we were very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the whole meal was, which included quality and quantity. It was a great evening, good service and the only complaint was the soup wasn't as hot as my friend would have liked it, which was quickly rectified. I would definitely return for next years dine out.
