I hope you're not in a hurry

Working close to Granville Island, we oftene nd up here for work functions. About 6 months ago, to our demise, this company (Brown's) decided to get fancy and change their menu. What they once had right has now gone terribly awry. The favourites on their menu we used to have are no more. They have been replaced by over-priced, small portions.

I'm a bit of a stickler for service and if you expect anything half decent, do not come here. I've been here a few times but most notably with a party of 10 and a party of 25. Party of 10 outing was disappointing. Not one person enjoyed their food. It took forever and our waitress was just ok. Not too bad but then came the party of 25 outing. What a nightmare. We had a reservation so they knew we were coming but we were only given 1 server. She could not keep up. I asked for a drink refill, and after about 25 minutes and almost choking/ having a dry mouth and requiring a beverage, I kindly reminded her again about it. She snapped, "it's coming, I'm doing the best I can". I was jus shocked. A simple lunch was almost a 3 hour ordeal and the food wasn't that great. The terrible service and wait time is enough for me to never go back.

Federico's Supper Club1728 Commerical, Vancouver
An annoying experience
Submitted Saturday, January 3, 2009 - 8:59pm [Dine in]

This was definitely not the experience I expected. I have been twice; once for a function hosted by someone else, and once for a function I hosted myself. I guess I didn't really notice all the little issues as a guest but when hosting my own party, I was definitely aware. Most of the staff are fairly unprofessional. They seem annoyed by the fact that they need to serve you and are often far too busy to provide any type of real service. They often seem confused as if they don't know what they are doing.

The food is okay. Nothing special. I have had far better Italian food. Prices are okay - a little high but not extraordinary considering you do get a "show", if you can call it that. The performer, good old Federico himself, is a waste of time. He is talented, I will admit, but showed up at 10:45 to begin singing for the evening. Considering music is set to end at midnight (he sometimes compensates by staying a bit later for his tardiness) this is way too late. Also, you must think, a lot of people arrive at 7 to 7:30 and must wait forever for the music. There was a terrible accordion player that I've seen in the past who played during dinner. Far too loud and not very good. There was also this other strange man that I've seen perform suring dinner who was equally annoying. I wouldn't recommend having a party here, or going here period. They are much too disorganized and you spend most of your evening waiting.

Las Margaritas1999 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver
Disgusting Mexican Food - stay away!

I have nothing good to say about this place, unfortunately. I have been about 3 times (I guess I was trying to see what all the hype was about, never should have gone back after the first time). I have never encountered a friendly person that works there - in fact, they all look down-right miserable. The food is bland. Absolutely no flavour. Their prices are okay but for the food they serve, a little high. Their drink prices are outrageous (especially for their margaritas) and the restaurant is cluttered, dingy, and often smells like terrible cleaning products.

Not all it's cracked up to be...

After dining at many wonder steakhouses in Vancouver and throughout the USA, I had yet to go to Morton's. I recently tried it out and my husband and I were less than impressed. Service was so-so; our waiter was not someone you would expect to be working in such a fine dining establishment. Maitre'd was quite curteous and professional. Decor/ambiance is OK. I expected the prices to be what they were (very high) but for what was provided, it was very over-priced. $19 for a martini - you rarely see that - it's a bit outrageous. All in all, dinner for 2 topped almost $400 (we did splurge, I must admit) but I would probably never go back. The food was definitely very good, but not worth it. You are much better off going to Gotham, Hy's or Ruth's Chris across the line.

I'm shocked by those who do not enjoy the food at this restaurant. They serve some of the best calamari I've had throughout the world! The value for their items is incredible. Much of it is made in-house and are family recipes. I have brought many, many people to this restaurant and have never heard one complaint. Service can be a bit touch and go. Some servers are fabulous, others are disinterested and inexperienced. Management (family-run) are wonderful, friendly people. Other than the high staff turn over, never a disappointing meal, ever.
