I have a love hate relationship with this restaurant.
All chow mein dishes I've had were awesome
Fried rice dishes yummy.
Sweet and sour chicken balls, devine!
Sweet and sour pork - chewy
Beef in the beef and broccoli is chewy too
Crab with black bean sauce was bland.
We go to this restaurant often, we just avoid these particuliar dishes and we quite enjoy ourselves.
I have to say my hubby and I are buffet nuts, and we try to visit any we see or hear about. This was the WORST buffet we ever have dined at. I asked to see the buffet before we were seated and saw that most of trays were scraps or dry, obviously had been sitting for some time. I asked if they were bringing fresh food out, and the hostes said, yes yes, soon!
So we decided to stay and grabbed the food that looked fresh and I was quite disappointed that all the dishes I would've really liked were either like I said scraps or dried right out. However, I remembered the hostess's promise so we sat down to eat. We didn't take much, hoping for the fresher stuff to come out by the time we were finished, but still after a 1/2 hour, they only brought out 2 items at a time.. literally 2 or 3 chicken balls, about a 1/2 cup of noodles or 1/2 cup broccoli at a time! I asked the hostess if they were bringing more so they did bring out a few more chicken balls and fresh rice.
I don't usually leave such a long review, but I just want everyone to know what your in for if you decide to visit this place.
I also want to mention that while we were eating our dried out food, the staff were having their dinner all together, cooks, servers, and etc, and they brought out huge dishes of freshly made food and fresh rice! I was flabbergasted!! They put this food on a table they were eating at and left us all watching them enjoy their food.. Unbelievable! Not worth 14.95. I've eaten 5 dollar meals more savory and satisfying.
My family and I visit this restaurant on a frequent basis. We enjoy the food immensely and the people there are quite friendly. We have experienced some bad service, but this was due to the business of the restaurant. I especially like it that we can cook at the table to our liking and unlike many restaurants, the taste of the food is consistant. I would definately recommend this place!
Don't forget to make a reservation!
Unfortunately this restaurant didn't meet any of our expectations. We were a table of 10 and we were greeted at the door in a very business like manner and the service was horrible. We were told promptly that we only have 2 hours to eat so we were like, ok no problem! However, we had to wait quite a while for someone to take our order sheet, then we'd have to ask for things more than twice. Our servers were not friendly and most of the time we had to wave them down. For some reason the food here didn't taste as delicious as the Shabusen on Granville. I'm sorry to say, I will not be visiting this location again.
