Lets get this straight, this is an "English Style" pub, this means you order/pay for everything at the Bar, if this isn't the way you operate you may be disappointed.
If you like good beer and above average pub-faire, I highly recommend this place, I go at least once a week for a pint and a meal and always come home with a growler of delicious beer.
If you're looking for a place to have a great time with a group of friends or just for two Irish Times is large and has enough nooks and crannies to cater to you.
Every meal I've had has been above average in terms of pub fare and they serve all your favourite beers on tap.
Prices are a little high but they're in a primo location so it's to be expected
Delicados is a great place to grab lunch any day of the week. The prices are very fair for the portions they serve. Its one of those places you can walk into and feel very welcome and walk out feeling satisfied. You've got the option to choose how spicy you want your food too.
I went to Chandlers once which was more than enough for me. The food is extremely overpriced.
If you're looking to impress someone with no tastebuds but deep pockets take them to Chandlers and go at er. I don't mind paying a premium for good food service and atmosphere, in my opinion Chandlers provides none of the above. I would be ashamed if this is the only seafood experience a tourist were to experience in their visit to BC, bad representation.
If you want to goto a pub with a great atmosphere, tasty food and reasonably priced drinks (in downtown victoria standards) you can't go wrong with the Canoe club or canoe brewpub or whatever they call it these days.
The only thing I would stay away from is the lamb, it's a brewpub stick to pubfare and you're set. They make great pizzas and the staff is always friendly and laid back.
Maybe I don't know what it takes to make a great Mexican restaurant but if this is it I'll never eat Mexican again.
The food seemed very generic and maybe this is some peoples idea of what mexico is but if I was mexican I'd be a little embarassed at this representation of atmosphere and food.
I spilled my Daiquirà which didn't bother me because it tasted horrible but what really bothered me was this happened in front of the waitress who laughed and continued to walk over the mess for the remaining 20 minutes we spent waiting for our bill.
I would not reccomend Cafe Mexico to anyone unless they need a good laugh
If you've been to one Boston Pizza you've basically experienced all they have to offer in the way of food. So I'll leave it at that, don't go there and expect anything great, not happening.
The blanshard location (if its the one by save-on-foods) offers free wifi and on the pub side they seem to have a decent range of tvs so you can watch the game from any angle. the main dining area is like a huge open warehouse, you can basically see everyone from every seat.
Again, it's Boston Pizza so you know what to expect...
Coming from Vancouver I'm a little spoiled as far as sushi goes, this has pretty much kept me away from the Sushi restaurants in Victoria as I've been waiting for someone to give one of the restaurants rave reviews.
I went to Azuma for lunch and found it to be very fresh and well priced, I wasn't overly impressed with the waitress but I won't let that take away from the overall rating. If you're accustomed to great sushi and find yourself in Victoria don't be afraid to try Azuma out, they were fairly new when I went there so I imagine with time things will only improve.
I've lived in Victoria since september '05 and haven't been overly impressed with the pub fare thus far, it's average at best. Having said that I managed to make it out to the 17 Mile pub a couple times and really enjoyed the atmosphere and found the food to be better than average.
If you're looking for a cool pub and don't mind heading a ways out of Victoria give it a go
While it feels as though you're eating in a cafeteria this isn't a big deal because Green Cuisine is all about the food. Serve yourself at a buffet style counter with a great selection of various vegan dishes and finish off with a delicious dessert. At green cuisine you pay by weight which is a pretty good concept, take what you like and leave the rest for the next guy.
If you want a delicious vegan meal and a chance to meet some of victorias hippy crew stop bye and you wont be displeased.
the description says they only accept cash, this is no longer true.
Onto the food, I ordered the grilled yellowfin tuna which was one of their weekly specials and my girl ordered the curry combo something rather (you get a portion of each of the three currys they have on the menu), after an unreal cheese appy which offered a nice taste of 5 or so cheeses olives and fresh baguette we feasted on some of the most delicious food i've experienced in victoria.
With a great selection of coctails, wine and beer I'd recommend the mint for either a pre club drink or for a full course meal, definitely reccomend to anyone.
I eat at rebar at least once a week for lunch and I've never had a negative experience. Expect to pay a little more than you're probably used to but have piece of mind that you're eating something that's good for you.
beware of the clubhouse if you order it your first time you may never try another item on the menu.
also if you work/live downtown, check out their specials online each week and order for pickup to avoid the lineups during peak times.
