Myself and 2 friends went to Lift on a foggy night as a part of Dine Out Vancouver. The restaurant was basically empty...only a few other tables had patrons. The service started out okay, but quickly went downhill. One of my friends is a vegetarian, and ordered the mushroom casserole as one of her courses. The description did not list any meat in the dish, and all the other choices for this course had meat in them. After a few bites, she pulled out something and asked me to taste it....yup, it was a piece of pancetta. There were several other pieces in her dish, as well as in the dish of my other friend's (who is not vegetarian so was not freaked out). When we alerted the waiter he immediately came over, but soon started denying that there was any meat in the dish. He continued to argue that it was impossible!! When we showed him the pancetta, he had nothing to say, except that we should have TOLD HIM that she was vegetarian. They took NO responsibility and offered no apology.
GROSS. No wonder the place is dead empty.

Dined here last night with 3 friends. We had made a reservation and were prompty seated. Our drink orders came quickly enough, but it took over 15 minutes before our server returned for our food order.
It took close to 20 minutes for our first round of food to arrive. Sensing it could take all night to eat, we ordered the next round right away; again this took 20 minutes, and they forgot one dish. One reminded, it arrived about 10 minutes later. The food was very good; but the prices high for such poor service.
