Very nice place, great food, however overpriced

We had been looking for this place for a while. We received numerous tips from various people that this place had really good sushi.. It was hard to find because its tucked into the westview shopping area, between a dollar store and mcdonalds.. every time i went there, i would find the japanese market, which also serves ready-made sushi, but i was sure this could not be the place.

Anyway, we tried it. I will say, the food was very good.. we did takeout, but just seeing the inside of the place, very nice ambiance.

The menu was nice (not huge on rolls if you like that sort of thing), but lots of different type of fish that you might not find at other sushi places. When we got the food, it was very nicely presented (in takeout containers), and very fresh.

However, you need to evaluate whether its worth the price. These folks are quite expensive. And the nigiri was not overly large, quite small actually, fresh, but small.

Now, we've been to Takumi over near horseshoe bay.. Hamaei was about the same price wise, but if you want decadent expensive sushi, go to Takumi.. with great ambiance too. I didnt feel that Hamaei was good value.. again, great fish, but a little overpriced for what you got.

This is a great place for special occasions, but if i were doing takeout sushi weekly, this will break the bank.

Maybe you get what you pay for. We will probably order again, but special occasions only.

I have really developed a liking for persian food. So when speaking to a fried who is persian, she highly recommended this place. So i went when things were slow, like 3:30p in the afternoon on a weekday. Boy this was a treat.
First off, the wait staff (i think this woman owned it or had something to do with the place) was very friendly. She explained the menu to me and helped me decide. Gormeh Sabzi, best on the north shore in my opinion. Food was fast, excellent, hot, and very tasty.

I've been back several times, even with my 1 yr old son.. he loved it too! :)

I certainly have not experienced any of the wait staff issues mentioned in the other reviews.

So-so pizza, bad attitude owner and staff

I guess gone are the days of happy-go-lucky pizzeria owners dishing out great pizzas. We really had our hopes up for this one but have been really disappointed - and we've tried it more than once with hopes it would get better - no luck.

First off, the pizza is 'ok'. Its not bad, but there are definitely better. We found the consistency wasnt there either.. some times were better than others. We even had one where the dough wasnt fully cooked - blah! But once you factor the price into things, there are many other better places.

What really turned us off though was the smug attitude we got on a couple visits. We later learned this was the owner! She could have cared less whether we were there or not. Really didnt make you feel welcome.

There HAS to be better pizza on the north shore. We're done with this place. Our pursuit continues for a great pizza.
