I'm Malaysian and I can tell you this is pretty authentic and the prices are incomparable.
I had the chicken curry and the Nasi goreng and the fried rice. Lots of flavors and spices but nit spicy at all. Just fragrant herbs. I know other reviews for this restaurant says there is not much ingredients you get what you pay for. I think there is some misunderstanding. This place serves authentic Malaysian STREET food. Meaning it is suppose fast and cheap and good. Authentic Malaysian street food is suppose to be like that. This place does not serve high end Malaysian cuisine,if you want that you are at the wrong place. Nasi goreng is suppose to be just eggs, green onions, mushroom and noodles. If you put anything more to it, than it's not called Nasi goreng it will be a fusion and therefore not authentic. Think about it! Malaysia is not a rich country! How can a normal citizen afford to put high end ingredients in their everyday cooking. You want real Malaysian food, you eat here. You want fake high end Malaysian food eat at Tropika and Banana Leaf. Cause I can tell you no one in Malaysia put pineapple, cashews, raisins, pork floss into their fried rice. Raisins and cashews are imported ingredients not native to malaysia and therefore not in our everyday cooking!!!
Love the ramen. Way less salt and MSG compared to Kintaro. I like it. I had the Dark Miso ramen. Very unique and tasty.
Bad thing long line up small pace. Sears like 20 ppl. My husband had the ship ramen and he agrees there is less msg compared to Kintaro. We weren't as thirsty after eating it.food came pretty fast. Will def cone again
Our friend hosted a bday party here with around 30 people. The food is great!!! This restaurant is run as a "mom pop" shop. So its all local fresh produce. We special ordered in advance curry crab. an explosion of spices mixed in with the natural flavours of the crab, it was surely the best curry crab i've ever had. Apparently the chef use to work for Tropika for over 10 years and decided to start his own business.
We ordered one large and one medium pizza and two appys and one dessert. Bill came to almost $100. Price is not bad but the value that we received was not quite there. I have more toppings on my hand tossed pizza at Panago than here. Yet, and the ingredients aren't as fresh compared to other fine dining pizza places that I have visited.
Service and ambiance is excellent. But the food is very slow even though there were only 4 tables eating. This is a very small scale restaurant. Not suitable for big parties. If you want better pizza with more toppings I suggest taking a short drive to vancouver's little Italy on commercial where it's more authentic and portions are bigger.
This little gem in New Port area is a great place to be. The prices are a little high and the portions are not very big. But you get what you pay for, the quality is excellent!
I had the Ebi Mayo, and Cloud something, it rice and crab meat and masago...so good!! We also had their Calamari Roll, first time i have ever seen if being offered, its like a dynamite roll but with Calamari in it. The only down side that i find in this restaurant is that it doesnt offered Beef Tataki. But besides that, they offer a variety of unique sushi that are very tasty to the palette.
In addition, i went with my sister who is a Vegetarian, its so difficult to take her out to eat sometimes esp at a Japanese restaurant. Well, we finally found a place that offers a large variety of Vegetarian sushi. We had the Victoria Roll-asparagus and also this roll that i forgot the name, its avocado and deep fried yam inside. The colours and presentation of the food was excellent. And it was delicious!
Overall, i think i would come here again, its not your typical "togo sushi" joint as the prices are a bit steep, but its great to come out her for a decent quality meal. I would definitely return!
I love this mom and pop kind of restaurant. Its very personal. The food is always excellent. One of my favourite is the bumble bee roll. Its like a dynamite roll wrapped with a sweet potato tempura with this Mango like sauce. Another favourite is the Beef YakiUdon. Very flavourful.
Once you are seated they offer you free salad with strawberries in it. The prices are decent and the ambiance is excellent.
It maybe a bit hard to find if you dont know the area well as they are tucked behind a small street. Just look for the Archbiship Carney school or Save on Foods.
I ordered the Cannery special, iron plated Mussels...very good deal. There was about 2lbs worth of Mussels on it (20 pieces) for $16.99. My BF ordered the Salmon Wellington with half a lobster tail. There were all very tasty and portions are fairly large.
The service is was excellent, the waiter was very attentive! The only downside is the parking, they all belong to the City of Vancouver, so you have to remember to pay for parking $2.50 per hour.
Cheap king crab during march 8.88 a lb, we ordered a 12 pounder it was good. Prices are cheap. Newly renovated. Great parking. Service was slow even when we went on a week day and there was only 5 tables. but prices are fair, and service is normal for a chinese restaurant.
First time to this restaurant, found it based on others review on dinehere website. I was very impressed with both the service and the food. The portions are large and the price was good. They are currently serving set dinners for $35 each and you can choose from a wide range of desserts. I hopped on over next door to sweet obsessions to take a peek at their desserts before ordering! I highly recommend the chocolate hazelnut zuccoto. I also ordered their tomato brides beef with bistro fries. You must try that!!! It has herbs, truffle oil, Parmesan and bacon bits on it. Yummy!! Reservaions are highly recommended as it's a small place near residential area. Parking is great too unlike downtown.
The ambiance is romantic, just like Italy itself.
There were 5 tables full of guests and only one waiter. He tried his best, and was very attentive. 5 stars for him.
The food was excellent, i had the Portobello mushroom to start. And then then Pasta with Porchini Mushroom, and Veal with apple slices. Hmmm...great pairing with the Chianti Red wine.
After we had their Tiramisu, it was amazing, not very sweet just the way i like it and explosion of espresso tastes.
I highly recommend this place for couples looking for a romantic place for dinner and not wanting to drive all the way out to downtown.
Food is great and cheap.
Staff is friendly.
Must try the Pate serves 2-3 people for an appy. The Portebello mushroom is very savoury. Wine is a good deal.
Location is great, lots of street parking. But must book 3 days in advance for a table, its always packed even on a weekday. Only open for dinner.
Staff are very friendly even though limited. I went on a Thursday night and it was packed. The Calamari is a very good deal, for less than $10 it serves 2-3 people for an appy. Dinner I had the prawns alfredo it was very good, and the prawns are very fresh.
Loves the Greek statues and lighting.
Unfortunately its located in a very small street and maybe difficult to find unless youknow the area, and they are only open for dinners.
Great food, their roti is awesome, their rice is cooked with coconut milk so its very filling but tasty. Small restaurant, so thier maybe a wait and difficult to find parking spaces. The ambience is great, the service is great and the food is great. I would recommend this restaurant. Authentic food
The food was awesome, I tried the Calypso Oxtail and the ribs. For appy's the Jamacian Patty and the Jerk Wings were great. The shots (rude boy) was huge 3 oz. Would definitely recommend to others. Pub style, so dress casual or in comfortable clothes. Difficult to find parking though...but worth the trouble!
Service was very poor for a wedding of only 6 tables. Place and carpet is very dirty. The waiter poured coke into my glass of red vine, and didn't bother changing my glass till an hour later. When asked to pour more drinks, the waiter gave us a dirty look. Poor service, washrooms are very dirty.
