space and food

8 yrs ago, this restaurant was a wide open concept, very relaxing and prices were cheaper. the buns were hot and tasty and full in the basket.

now, the restaurant is turned fine dining, spaces between tables are tight and restauarant was enclosed into several rooms. entree $39 and dessert $13, wine $20 per glass. had good memories 8 yrs ago and decided to come back to celebrate 1st wedding annivesary..

food took a long time to come, so our nice server brought us 2 servings of sour dough bread, but it was not warm and the crust was hard. my halibut entree was nice and tasty, but serving is quite small. my husband had pork belly, very tasty and a larger serving. ordered berries and chocolate trio for dessert.
1 hr later, i had diarrhea from what i eaten. hubby was fine. ??

found this restaurant mid 2006, since i live close by. good price, fantastic cleaniest vietnamese food i ever had! the beef soup is just perfect, and the vermicelli and rice dishes are so clean, not a speck of burnt food. the salad roll is always fresh and soft. the beef stew sandwich is great too, but serving size is a little small. had my wedding rehearsal dinner there in August 2006 and my frens kept going back there ever since!

It is truly a hidden gem for Vancouver Renfrew Heights.

high end look, low end food

terribly disappointed overall. high end look- the restaurant is redesigned with sushi bar in the centre circle and small table all around it, view from glass window is almost panoramic (but false creek view is blocked by apartment bldg across the street). HOWEVER, food was dry, sashimi was dry n not fresh (although they try to decorate with fancy look- rainbow, mango etc), my chicken kabob and beef mushroom kabob arrive dry and semi cold. the sauces sounds tasty in menu but really is plain sauce. only the tempura yam fries taste good but a little over deep fried. we spent over $40 between me and my gf on regular menu, disappointted they don't have all you can eat (used to have!), WILL NOT GO BACK.

can't believe i'm the 1st to review this place! it's good food for great price ~$12.99 for buffet. small restaurant but always popular and full on weekends. go before 6pm for no waits. the mango chicken is yummy, no other place serves this dish in their buffet!
