I've eaten at Burger Heaven many times over the last couple of years and they continue to turn out really first rate burgers. The beef is not overworked and there's always a good crust on the patty from proper frying. Salads have always been crisp and fresh. As a burger joint, it's one of the best in the Lower Mainland.
I've had Saturday brunch a couple of time at El Barrio and enjoyed the experience a lot. The kitchen cooks with a lot of heart. The flavours are bright and well developed, the presentations are clean and uncluttered. Their fried plantain is terrific as is their wonderful tres leches cake. Service has been unfailingly gracious and attentive. The liberal use of red in the decor brightens up a rainy day for sure.
It's a great neighbourhood joint.
I've eaten at Cockney Kings a few times since moving to New West and they continually turn out first rate Fish and Chips. I normally order Halibut but the Cod and the Prawns have been spot on too. The Oyster sandwich was a little bun heavy but the Oysters were nicely cooked. The coleslaw is bland and the cabbage too coarse but that's my only complaint.
Ambience...strip mall chic. 'nuff said
Oh, the Onion Rings are to die for. Don't miss them.
I've eaten at the Paddelwheeler a few times over the last year. Though never disappointed I've never been wowed either. Food tends to pub standards and has been generally well prepared but with a tendency to overcooking, especially the burgers. The portions have been well sized and give solid value. Service has been somewhere between friendly and perfunctory. The place could use a facelift too.
All in all I wish they tried just a little harder, given their excellent, scenic location.
