Best steamed chicken buns around
Submitted Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 1:32pm [Dine in]

THE best place to go to for steamed buns in the GVRD. Sponge cake is not so great (go to T&T instead). Palitow is good. Pancit is not so great.
The lady owner of the Richmond location is not person-friendly at all, but don't let it scare you off (i.e. no smile, no hello, and she might not even serve you till she's done eating her own lunch first--she'll make you stand there and wait). I've been going there for years now, that's just the way she is.

Good Indian Food!
Submitted Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 1:27pm [Dine in]

Samosa's here are so good, and not very greasy like lots of other places. Parking can be a pain at busy times, but the great food is worth the struggle sometimes!

Go to Riddim & Spice on the Drive instead
Submitted Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 1:23pm [Dine in]

The time we went, there were a dozen flies near the front entrance/patio area. Service ok. Ordered jerk chicken and roti. Would not go back, especially at what they charge for it. Riddim & Spice on Commerical Drive has better jerk (not the best, but way better) and go to Rehanah's Roti on St. John's St. in Port Moody for that specialty.

Banana Leaf820 West Broadway, Vancouver
Only for non-Malaysians
Submitted Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 1:15pm [Dine in]

Let me tell you something about Banana Leaf Restuarant. My family is from Malaysia and this is not real Malaysian food. It is just ok-above average. Have you ever noticed that most of the patrons are Caucasian? If it was so good and real, where are all the Malays?
Second of all, the waitress we had was by far the rudest server we've EVER encountered. She gave us nothing but attitude and complained about her tip. I won't even go into details because the thought of it is just sickening. Anyway, their cendol is far from real and is way to sweet. Pineapple rice boat is good and the chi-chi's. Roti is excellent. Other than that, it's ok.
