Meh food; don't break a tooth...
Submitted Saturday, February 2, 2008 - 5:59pm [Dine in]

Made reservations for lunch and we were told that the restaurant was fully booked and therefore could not change our table as we were seated by the door. That was fine as it turned out we didn't get any draft, however what was irritating was that there were four empty tables for the hour we were there.

As for the food: I was feeling more vegetarian that day and wanted something light but not a salad. I had the eggplant with portobello mushrooms. First, there was hardly any eggplant and second it was completely covered in cheese and tomato sauce. Not only was it not good, it wasn't satisfying. My lunch dates had the salmon salad and the butter chicken. The butter chicken was pretty tasty and the salmon salad was okay. I should mention that I almost broke a tooth from the pita dipping sauce we were nibbling on after lunch. It was a piece of ceramic that was about the size of gravel. I don't know how it got there and I should have said something to the owner/manager but we were running late.
Just a word of caution.

Decent

Not exactly the best quality sushi but it's okay if you're hungry and you want to have a salmon roll to tide you over. I find their special rolls rather overwhelming and not very good. The spicy tuna roll was gross as well as the chopped scallop roll.

Pretty good

I've been here a few times both for dine in and for take out and the quality of the food and service has always been solid. My friend loves their spring rolls and their house special chicken noodle soup. I usually order various pho and it's always been good. The salad roll is tasty though, a bit big and over stuffed with vermicelli. The grilled chicken roll is quite yummy, however I did find a rather long strand of hair in it once. It didn't gross me out and I didn't call any attention to it as, in the great scheme of things, it wasn't a big deal and I've accidentally eaten worse.

Overall, I like the food and service and will continue to eat here.

If you have the time...

I've been to Dockers numerous times and at various times of the day. The food is solid and consistent when you finally get it. For some reason every time I've been there the kitchen is sloooooooow in getting your omelette made and that's even if we're only one of two other tables in the place. The coffee is nothing to write home about but the service is friendly and it's a nice local place to go for consistent food just don't go when you're absolutely famished.

Good value for money

A friend tipped us off to this place because we've been having a hard time finding a decent weekend brunch spot that's consistent and that actually serves freshly squeezed juice. The food at the Sunny Spot was good and solid and well priced. The service was good and friendly. The place is no frills and the juice is squeezed to order! Not like most other places where they advertise "freshly squeezed" and they pour it from the jug. It's a place we'll return to.
