Our first visit to Lift - no real expectations after reading the other reviews here, but we were pleasantly surprised - top service by a waiter who clearly knew when to be at the table and when to leave us alone. The food was fabulous and not microscopic servings as in some upper-end restaurants we've been to. It's certainly pricey but no worse than others at the same level. Highly recommended.

We had booked for 7pm and arrived on time. After a promise from the waitress that "the table would be ready in 5 minutes", we waited half an hour at the bar. After finally being shown our table, we ordered our meal and wine (by the glass). When the wine arrived, it was a small carafe, not in a bottle, and was unceremoniously dumped into our glasses. At $9 a glass, a bit of style would have been appreciated. After our meal arrived (I ordered a filet mignon) - cooked medium - and my partner ordered a lamb shank. The lamb shank was delicious, unfortunately the tiny filet mignon ($24) was charred on the outside and essentially raw in the center. Then the waiter came and asked if we would like ground pepper, and proceeded to lean right across the table from the other side and spray pepper all over the food and sauces!
By this time our appetite was well and truly gone and we quickly got the bill ($76 for a lamb shank, uncooked steak, and two tiny glasses of red wine), paid the bill (no tip) and left.
A memorable evening, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. Perhaps it was that particular night, but we won't be back. Definitely not recommended.
