Cafe Luxy1235 Davie Street, Vancouver
Save your money and go elsewhere!

I was extremely hungry tonight and while walking on Davie, Cafe Luxy looked like a very warm and inviting place, so my bf and I decided to give it a try. The restaurant seemed to have the right ambiance that we decided to order a nice bottle of white wine, thinking we were in for a great dinner. The disappointment started with our appetizer, a "luxy bruschetta" which I could have personally made a better version of at home. Next came our Caesar salad which had a watery Caesar dressing accompanied with some stale garlic bread. This was followed with our main course, a seafood lasagna and a cannelloni with gorgonzola sauce. Our waiter informed us that these were the restaurants most popular dishes, which makes me worried for the rest of the menu. The lasagna was tiny with shrimp that was rock solid overcooked, which is probably because it was heated in a microwave (this was visible since the kitchen is open for everyone to see). The cannelloni with gorgonzola sauce was bland and watery so we asked for a replacement dish, which was at least kindly offered to us. Unfortunately by the time this dish came by, we were running late for our movie so we had to take it to go. The only compensation that we were offered for the poorly prepared dinner was a complimentary dessert which we didn't even have time to eat since it took so long to be served!

Don't go here, unless you don't have a clue what real Italian food should taste like and are willing to waste your money on microwaved seafood and stale bread.
