A little gem in the neighbourhood!
Submitted Sunday, December 14, 2008 - 5:43pm [Dine in]

The last time I was at Shiro's was many moons ago and at that time didn't have a great experience.

I recently went there last week with my daughter and was very impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. We ordered the dinner special between the 2 of us and that was more than enough.

The restaurant is tiny but what a great little gem in the neighbourhood. Probably THE best sushi restaurant in the Main/Cambie area.

Good Tasty Chinese Food
Submitted Saturday, July 5, 2008 - 9:27pm [Dine in]

Last night I went to KC with my brother. We had deep fried wontons, pan fried beef noodles, crab and a vegetable dish I'm not familiar with (On choy with shrimp paste?)

The food is fresh and tasty. This is a great little place if you want some decent Chinese food without any frills.

The bathroom can use a renovation but the place seems clean and the service is general good.

Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant3888 Main Street, Vancouver
One of the Best Chinese Restaurants on Main
Submitted Saturday, July 5, 2008 - 9:16pm [Dine in]

I've been going to SSW on and off for the last few years. I agree that some times when I go during peak hours, the service can be lacking.

This time I went early for dim sum and was able to order all the dishes I like. The shrimp dumplings are tasty. Mango & egg tarts are a must try.

You do need to be agressive as the waiters will only come to your table if you get their attention. I find this to be very typical of Chinese restaurants.

I will continue to go to this place as the food is one of the best on Main Street.

Love the Chicken Soft Tacos!
Submitted Friday, July 4, 2008 - 5:19am [Dine in]

I've walked and biked by this little place a few times and last week while my bike was being tuned up, I decided to give it a try. Burritos and curry - interesting combo.

I ordered the chicken soft tacos and tried the mango & papaya juice. Yummy and fresh! This place is very inexpensive and a hidden gem on Broadway.

Best Ambiance for a Vietnamese Restaurant!
Submitted Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 4:52pm [Dine in]

I've been going to Vietnamese restaurants for over 2 decades in Vancouver. Most of the ones I go to have Christmas lights blinking all year round and TVs blairing. (Yes, I know - I go to a lot of cheap places).

Spices is probably the only Vietnamese restaurant that I have been to that has incredible, non-traditional decore. The food is very good. I seem to always order the special beef noodle soup and it has never disappointed me.

The service is sporatic but solid.

Good Cheap Food
Submitted Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 4:45pm [Dine in]

This is probably one of my favourite little Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. The family that owns it are incredibly nice. Food is very good. I almost always order the combo with meat patty and shrimp in sugar cane dish.

I found out about this restaurant when two differend friends recommended it me.

Everything is so fresh! Try some of the fruit shakes or iced coffee on a hot day.

Not what they used to be...
Submitted Saturday, April 12, 2008 - 7:56am [Dine in]

I've been going to Toshi's since they've opened and have traditionally received good service and good food. However, the last couple of times that I have gone this year, the food was okay at best and the service was not what it used to be. The table had to be re-cleaned after we sat down and my girl-friend found a small string of hair in the rolled sushi. (Not that big of a deal, as I have seen worse).

I felt slightly claustophobic in the restaurant as they really pack the customers in like sardines.

If you want a cheap restaurant, don't mind the wait and really want to experience other customers' elbows, this is the place to be!
