Size vs. Quality
Submitted Monday, September 15, 2008 - 12:42am [Dine in]

If you want quantity, you will get your money's worth at this place! Their rolls are bigger compared to other places but I find their rice yucky! It just doesn't taste like authentic Japanese sushi rice. Given the fact it's run by Vietnamese, this is NOT the place for authentic sushi. Their salmon sashimi is so thick it taste like rubber! Honestly, I would prefer quality sushi rolls that doesn't fall apart and taste right rather than getting big pieces!

If you want "value", this is definitely a good place... If you prefer taste and presentation, don't bother going here!

The title says it all! The food is incredible, you won't expect places like New West has such good food but this place is a great exception! Their tempura is perfect, so is there udon, appetizer boat and everything else. The best of all? Crispy roll! It's a roll that has two prawn tempura and California roll stuffing topped with tobiko and tempura batter with their homemade sauce! This special roll and the fact that I can count on a great Japanese meal w/o having to go to downtown or pay downtown prices is worth me driving half an hour just to eat there!

Want to try something different? Go to Guu's! They don't really have sushi, but their fusion menu is just absolutely incredible! I can never remember what I ate there b/c I always order diff. things each time I go.... This is the kind of place where you cannot remember the dishes' names (because the talented chefs create their own dishes where you will not find in other typical Jap restaurants) but you will definitely remember the great experience!!

Great food for take-out
Submitted Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 7:07pm [Dine in]

Went to Asa last month (Aug 2008) just for their "creative rolls" and I must say the food is great but the servers there really need to brush up their floor-cleaning skills.... It's not dirty but you just don't feel right! Excellent sushi for taking-out for sure and if you want to try something different, this is the place to go!!

Real Japanese food made by real Japanese chefs! If you ever want take out sushi, Matzu is worth going to! The rice if perfect, the taste is perfect and the best part? It will not fall apart like some other places do! Very fresh and the service is excellent! They have a great menu where you have lots of choices to choose from and you know it's fresh when you put it in your mouth! I recommend their Futomaki because not all Japanese restaurants make it the traditional way - Matzu's full of the pink sweet stuff, nice big chunk of tamago (egg), crab meat, kunbu (some type of sea vegetable), and genuine shitaki mushroom! Give it a try!
