Really liked the look of this place for a nice date night. Really pretty, cozy ambiance. The menu looked so promising.....then we got cold tea (I mean come on!!). The takoyaki was actually really lovely, light and crispy outside, tender squid and fluffy inside. Then we got our "main" dishes. So small it was almost laughable, except that we were paying so it wasn't really funny in the end. My boyfriends salmon was a cat sized portion and tasted just barely OK. My shortribs were so flavourless I couldn't figure out how they did it. Oh and were delivered sitting in a pool of grease. Really bad. We quickly got the bill and paid $21 for 4 pieces of takoyaki, 4 pieces of short rib, and 3 inches of salmon. Pathetic. No joke- we actually went out to dinner around the corner RIGHT AFTER! First time in my life I've had to re-eat dinner like that. Luckily, the next place was great food and value. We certainly will never come back here and do not recommend others to waste their time and money.
First time at Point Zero- we were not hungry enough for all you can eat, so we went for the a la cart. I loved their menu- it took me forever to choose between all the items. Ended up with tawian wonton soup, Taiwanese style pan fried dumplings, BBQ lamb skewers (med spicy) and BBQ pork collar (med spicy). The lamb & pork were delicious- such a good spicyness & charred just right- could have eatten 100s. The dumpling were so crisp & super juicy. Soup base was kind of boring but the wontons had a nice subtle flavour. The service was extremely nice & attentive- suprising in an Asian restaurant, especially wen we only speak English. Great experience. Will be back many times to try way more of the menu. At $20 it was a great night.
Been here quite a few times. Their lemongrass spicy soup is to die for. Lovely herbal notes with great heat. All their satays are quite good, but could be a tad more flavourful. The house sauce (a dressed up fish sauce) is so good I could drink ot like soup. Very good spring rolls as well. The only disapointment I've had here was the pressed noodle cake with shrimp paste on sugarcane. It was quite plain and lackluster, and the lettuce leaves provided were ripped and quite difficult to use effectively. Try the speciality soups, I've never been let down by any of them. The regular soups are quite good, nice balance of flavours, and good amount of meat. Service is quite absent. Really hard to find let alone get server's attention. We usually deal with all 2 or 3 staff members instead of with our server, which is quite ridiculous. But the food is good.
Shockingly good for a food court selection in Landsdowne Mall. Right in the corner by the bathrooms, so that's not great, but at least you can go eat at the food court tables. But the food is really nice. My East Indian friends actually eat here reguarly and love it cause it's very homestyle food.
- The butter chicken is lovely
- Chili chicken has a nice deep, spicy flavour.
- Peas and cheese is either great or just so-so depending on the day.
- The nann is quite good. Not exceptional because it's not chared enough.
Portions aren't huge, but are good and prices are reasonable. $6 for one curry with rice and nann.
Wow amazing fish and chips. Really nice batter, moist fish, freshly made in front of you. The tartar sauce was by far the best I've had. Really fresh with great flavour- not the normal standard glop every place serves. The chips were nice and crisp, which for some reason is where most french fries fail. Really well cooked. The place is so tiny, but really cute and kitch. Friendly and attentive service as well. Worth a stop for sure. I haven't had fish and chips this good since my last trip to the UK. Very UK style grub that's worth a stop. Large portions as well.
Really friendly and wonderful people work here. So welcoming and helpful. The locations not great, as it is in the mall, but at least it's away from the food court. The butter chicken is nice. Samosas are nice and thin skinned. The lamb kabob is really nicely spiced with good heat. Good lunch choice. Definately the only place in the mall I would eat a meal. Cranberry chutney is unique and my favourite of their offerings. Huge drink selections, slushies, lassies, Indian sodas, iced coffee, chai, herbal teas.
Great little bakery. Delicious little cookies, especially pink stripe and birdsnest. The round cheesebread is so delicious, I've been eatting it since I was 8. Sausage rolls are delicous as well, make a great snack. Every one of my family members has been having the fudge cakes every birthday for the last 20 years. So,I'd definately reccomend them. Nice traditional little bakery.
Way too much money for a mediocre bubble tea. $5.25 seriously? If you want to wait for 20 minutes for a takeout drink, then this is your place. The girls are nice but they forget your drink, more than a few times I have actually has to walk to the back and get my own drink from the counter. I know they're a new opperation but they leave you hanging. The bubble tea its self is ok. Lots of choices on the menu.
Best chicken shwarama I've ever tasted. The amazingly lovely guy makes his own pitas by hand, which makes the shwarama that much better. Succulent chicken with just the right amount of char. A lot of care and effort put into one wrap. Definately a great lunch, super filling and incredibly tasty. The pizza pretty good, too. I like the eggplant one.
The lady here is always there and always super friendly. Family run business. The bubble tea is the best Ive ever had, and I've had a lot. She makes a fresh mango one that will knock your socks off. The pina colada is sooooo amazing. These will become so addictive. $3.75 too with mix of pearls and coconut jelly. Forget Pearl Castle- these are way better and way cheaper. Check it out.
The chicken subs are the most popular menu item for a reason- really good. Made fresh in front of you. The owner picks up the French baguette rolls from this awsome bakery in vancouver and they are so delicious. The owner also makes his own pate that has a great flavour. You can really tell the effort and love for food that this guy has. He loves talking about food and is always perfecting his recipes and working on new stuff. The spring rolls are good too. I've never had anything bad here. For under $4 it's a great deal for a delicious sandwich. Why bother with subway when you can get a homemade, marinated, toasted, fresh and vibrant sub like these?
Went with the whole family. Not enough selection on the menu. I am still dreaming about the chibese donut wrapped in rice roll with shredded dried pork on top. Best ive had anywhere. Translucent shrimp dumpling skins were total mush. Couldnt even pick them up without them falling apart. Wonderful service, suprisingly. Very attentive and friendly. Everything else was not memorable.
Love it. This is "our place" for my bf & I. Open till 3, which is great. Perfect place for chatting, hungover lunch, or late night boredm. Ive never seen another non-asian person in there aside from us. Servers are typically rude unless you get the guy who is wonderful. Food comes insanely fast & hot. Usually comes with soup (we like the borsch) and drinks (lemon cokes are the best).
- Best signapore vermicelle ever. Tons of shrimp, egg, bbq pork & veggies.
- Love the beef with black bean sauce chow mein- add chilli sauce.
- kung pow is nice subtle spicy, tons of peanuts
- portugese chicken baked rice is sooo good. Nicely browned chicken, curry cooked potatoes, rich yellow curry sauce, & shredded dried pork on top that makes it. Totally brings me back to my mums curry
Never had the western stuff but its really popular here.
Try this place! It costs us $12 for 2 huge plates of food. Cant beat that. Skip mcdonalds & eat here instead.
Love dim sum- so we tried this very busy place. Unfortunately every dish had its issues.
1) pork dumplings - good but ive had more flavourful juice at other places
2) spring rolls - ok but nothing special
3) shrimp & green onion dumplings - best thing i had- only 1 shrimp in each huge dumpling though
4) black vinegar spareribs w/ peanuts - way too heavy on the sauce, totally overpowering, i guess they ran out of peants cause we got pine nuts
5) pork wonton soup- filling was good but wonton skin was terribly overcooked
6) shrimp & lobster deep fried balls - looke great but were overcooked
I will say that I never have had hotter food in my life at a restaurant. And it came out really fast. Everything was so hot we had to wait to eat each dish.
At $37 bucks for 2 people i certaintly wont come here again.
