Solid lunch
Submitted Tuesday, September 7, 2010 - 10:47am [Dine in]

I went here with on a lunch with about 15 other people. The food was very well prepared and delicious. The prices are very reasonable (especially for lunch) with such fine quality food. Service was good. No complaints and will defnitely go back again when I'm in the area.

Cactus really has been coming around with their new looks and feel, great food, great service and a terrific canadian chain. the salmon was wonderful and the pad thai noodles were also very tasty. the setting is fabulous and the decor and design spectacular. great job with the design elements, lighting and layout. also a good place to watch the games.

Appreciation for detail
Submitted Thursday, September 2, 2010 - 1:01pm [Dine in]

Anyone who has appreciation for detail will surely find this restaurant outstanding! From the beautifully decorated menus to the tasty six course meal; one would easily be able to tell that a lot of thought and effort was put into creating this very fine dining experience. I ordered the "Fuuka" dinner set and I was very impressed from start to finish. The meal started off with a cold noodle dish with tasty dried shrimp, followed by a taster of three japanese snacks, a tuna sashimi salad, a rich tofu topped with sweet onions and then finally, for entree: a beef dish in delicious white sauce (cheese?) mixed in with a hint of soy sauce. And as for dessert, a flavorful green tea pudding topped with a scope of ice cream cemented the restaurant as one of the best Japanese fusion restaurants in Vancouver.

This is what fine dining should be. Spread the word, this is the Japanese Lumiere.

Loud, but that does not keep me away
Submitted Monday, August 30, 2010 - 9:03am [Dine in]

Since i've never had anything different than burger and fries there, there is not a lot I can say about their food in general, but I love their burgers. I have to say, I like them way better than Vera's (since they are not charred!); I always have a juicy, tasty burger, I don't have to wait too long, and I like their fries a lot. Even on very busy weekends, I find that the service is good. Ambiance is one thing I dislike; I find it too loud, but that does not keep me away

This food is made with love. Close to home, made fresh everyday, baklava is to die for(my favorite: Walnut Baklava), must try the Arabic Espresso (not bitter, just strong).

Everyone is so friendly, always smiling. The ambiance is like being at home! :) If in Burnaby its deffinately worth the stop

Perfect lunch
Submitted Monday, August 23, 2010 - 12:34pm [Dine in]

Went to Le Crocodile for lunch the other day. Food was fantastic. Service was very good and the ambience was consistent with a classic french bistro. Michel Jacob re-creates classic dishes perfectly. The long list of features would be better listed on paper but they have done it this way for years. That being the only complaint it is one of the best lunches in town.

Stepho's Greek Taverna1124 Davie St, Vancouver
Great greek food
Submitted Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 10:20pm [Dine in]

I know Stepho’s is a popular Greek restaurant in Vancouver and I can see why. It’s well priced, the service is fast, and if you’re craving Greek food it’s a good place to get your fill. However, if you’re looking for top-quality food than Stepho’s might not be the place to go. I know Greek food well and although Stepho’s is solid, there are better Greek restaurants out there.

Best experience yet
Submitted Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 12:37am [Dine in]

have visited the Irish Heather many times in the past, and have never left short of extremely satisfied. Recently I have also had a wonderful experience joining a large group of friends in the Shebeen!

I have always thought it was just whisky and thus never bothered to venture past the big glass room. The room is amazing with the old charm that the rest of the Irish Heather radiates. Our party was catered with a large assortment of food platters that were all excellent, the artichoke fritters a crowd favourite! The staff were all friendly and very accommodating, and everyone had a great time, we'll definately be back soon!

Pho 99 Vietnamese Noodle House2991 Lougheed Hwy, #62, Coquitlam
Worth it
Submitted Sunday, August 15, 2010 - 8:51am [Dine in]

I've eaten at this particular Pho 99 quite a few times in the past. The quality ranges from superb to slightly above average. At times the pho comes out piping hot with nice firm noodles and meat that falls apart in your mouth. Other times the pho comes out luke warm with soft noodles and tough meat. The broth has never been bad however depending on the time you either get a mild tasting almost clear broth, or a very dark slightly salty quite flavourful broth.

The best pho I have ever eaten came from here, but only once out of many trips.

Their rice dishes and rolls are worth a mention as well, my wife orders them every time, and I've yet to have a bad dish.

The service is on par with the vast majority of pho restaraunts, you need to flag waitresses down for water, forks and small bowls for children are offered occasionally.

They do not try to exude any special ambience, It's just a place to come and pick up a cheap lunch or dinner. However, it does seem to be one of the cleaner pho places i've been to.

As for value, I am not a native vancouver resident so i do tend to rate the value of the food higher than most as your prices tend to be amazing. However how can one compain about taking your family out for a decent meal that runs you under 20 dollars all said and done.

Sunset grill for brunch
Submitted Saturday, August 14, 2010 - 3:48pm [Dine in]

We have recently gone to the Sunset Grill for Brunch and my freinds and I agree it was the best Benny in town! The hashbrowns are also homemade and delicious.
The service was excellent. The waitresses were buzzing around topping up coffees which is so rare these days. One of the owners seated us and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

THE HUNGRY ONE SAYS This cake shop is the best in lower mainlandIt is beautifully decorated with full of chocalate smell when you enter the the shop. All the cakes and individual cake are very nicely made, i.e. outlook, coloring, decoration, etc.

Individual cakes price from $5.25 to $5.75, which is a little pricey compare with its portion (about 2.5"x2.5"). But it definitely worth the cost!

Chocolat Velouté is a MUST try!
