Prett good location. Nice size of place. Pretty good service. Expensive for what you get. There are better breakfast places in town. The fruit and granola type plate they serve is weak and over priced. The fruit was very cheaply/thinly sliced. The eggs benny wasn't as good as I had been told, in fact far, far from it. Generalliy, I would say that Avalon is over-rated, and I think that is a fair and accurate assessment. May not go back.
So I enjoy the 5th Street. The service is average, but for myself, and most people I know who go there, we aren't going there for the service. We like it because its a great place to hangout. I slip in there occassionally for a few quiet ones after work, to catch up with friends, maybe watch the hockey game, and have a tasty and reasonably priced bite to eat. The atmosphere is alway good when I have been there, but I'm speaking specifically about the bar side. I haven't been there for a sit down meal with my partner yet and I'm not entirely sure that we will. Its just not that type of place for us. The drinks are a very good value, perhaps some of the best prices. That keeps up patronage. I like it, and will continue to go there! Well done!
This place isn't aiming for the stars with its culinary exploits. Its a place to get a pretty good breakfast, at a pretty good price, with pretty good service, in a pretty good location. Its really busy on weekend morning, so it definately has a following. I've eaten here for breakfast more times than anywhere else. The menu is funny, and imaginative, the staff are interesting, pleasant, and easy breezy. Its not a serious place, its more of a gimic experience to tell your friends about who may have been there once after drinking too many caesars the night before, so you can say "remember when we went to floyds after that crazy night"...and the other person replys "yes, and the eggs benny was awesome".......after a night of mangling your taste buds! Its a pretty good place to get breakfast!
I really like this pub. Its a little too far from home, and not the closest pub to call it my local, but I'd like it to be my local! Its great, the location in fernwood its great. The patio in the summertime is lovely and a great place to hangout for 2, or for a larger gathering. For a quiet, midday/afternoon beer with a friend its awesome. The service is pleasant, occasionally chatty, and they pay attention. The owners or upper management are present and engaged and on top of things, which is great to see. On a busy evening when the owners/upper management have been there they have always tried to accomodate the groups I'm with, no matter the size. The food is pretty good, but not awesome. I eat there when I go, but its not the main reason for my attendance. I go because I like it. The menu seems to have been the same for some time and needs a change, and the physical menu in your hands looks worn out. Its a good spot, and a nice place to hangout. I recommend this place.
I had a great experience here. Our waiter was prompt, polite, and attentive. The atmosphere is great. The sushi is very reasonably priced and delicious. This isn't the best sushi I have ever had, but the value made up for it and I walked away very pleased. We had a table of 5, 2 of which eat there once a week. The Ricky roll is fantastic. The rolls are a managable size. Sometimes sushi rolls can be to big, difficult to hold on to, and fit into your mouth, with too much rice. But these rolls were a great size and well presented. I enjoyed it here, its a pressure free place and very comfortable. Enjoy.
I have been to this place twice, with similar experiences. The second time, and most recent time I was with the grandparents. The food was pretty good, but I felt that in general the portions weren't big enough. The oyster burger which you would think would be a prominent item on the menu was small, but tasty. I thought it was a little lack-luster for an Oyster bar. I tried a couple other oyster dishes from around my table and the tasted very good. The service was lacking. I politely asked the waitress what she thought of the lamb burger and the oyster burger, and asked her for a suggestion. She gave me an unenthuasiastic response, very indifferent, didn't care. She was impatient. More annoyingly was her, hurry up and order demeanor, especially with my grandparents. The place was new to them and she made them uncomfortable and flustered. I asked what beers were available, and she looked exhausted by the question. Blank, rushed look on her face throughout, and it wasn't too busy! Ambiance is fine, I like the location, and the idea of the restaurant. You can have all the tools, but with out the proper delivery of the idea, it gets abit lost.
This restaurant is very average. The food was weak, the curry sauces were thin with very little substance. The decor and overall feel of the restuarant is uninspired. The carpets were dirty, the cutlery was unclean, the plastic glasses were stained, and we simply felt unclean after we left. The Naan bread was soggy. The lady at the front was unhospitable, and lacked energy. If you're nursing a hangover and want a quick, cheap feed to get full then it would do the trick. Don't eat the Tandoori chicken.
