Red Ginger Asian Cuisine967 West Broadway, Vancouver
Large quantities but the food is bland, boring, awful
Submitted Friday, July 15, 2011 - 2:43pm [Dine in]

My husband and I decided to give Red Ginger a try cause everytime we walk by, we always see quite a few people and thought why not try a new restaurant. The host was friendly and displayed great customer service. We were seated and the menu offered great variety. We decided to order the chicken curry, the sweet basil prawns and the pad thai. When the food arrived, we were immediately disappointed. The dishes were only medium warm and not hot and fresh. We like dishes to come to us like it was just out of the oven. The curry was really really awful. It was so bland that it left a taste of chalk in my mouth. The vegetables were cut so enormous that it didn't even have any taste to it. The sweet basil prawns were just as bland. There were no exotic flavors to these dishes. I can't even begin to describe how not delicious these dishes were. I have been to many different places and have had the same dishes and I can honestly say, these dishes at this place is by far the worse. The pad thai was really awful. It was just a big plate of pasta mixed in ketchup with a sprinkle of bean sprouts. I am really sad to have to say this but if only the chef would taste his own cooking, he would know that he better make some improvements fast or this place is going to sink soon. I believe Red Ginger has great potential as its staff is really nice, the atmosphere is great and the restaurant is in a great location BUT the chef really really needs to make better tasting food. Quality always wins over quantity...so even though the portions are huge, it doesn't matter if one doesn't finish the food because it tastes so awful.

Tried this place for the first time this week and I absolutely LOVED it! It's right up there with one of the best French restaurants in Vancouver. Had the halibut and could not believe how amazing it tasted. The portions are on the tiny side but oh so tasty and reasonably priced. The bread was free and tasty... excellent service and they cater to your every whim to ensure your experience is most pleasant.

Amazing Food and Service

This is probably the best French restaurant in Vancouver! Excellent food, service and price! Great value for the amazing food that it offers! The portions are generous and the food is just so yummy! Unlike some restaurants, they don't charge you for the hot water which helps wash down the delicious decadent deserts... this place is a must try! I come here almost every other weekend! Thank you for existing! Merci beaucoup!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. A hidden gem... I have nothing but outstanding things to say about this place. Food is to die for! Great value for awesome authentic Szechuan food. Siuloongbau...is YUMMMEEEE~! Try everything...almost all is good. I only hope they will fancy up the place and washrooms. Ugh! Other than that, the food is excellent!

OK, I eat out alot and this place is really god honest the best for sushi / Japanese food. I can't believe how good everthing is and I mean everything...sushi, tapas, don, noodles...etc.etc.... yes the line up is LONG but oh so worth the wait. Why is there a line up? Is it not obvious, this place rocks! You'll fall in love with the food immediately and will crave it every few days. Prices are reasonable and for the quality you get, worth every penny!!! Go Toshi Go! Love it!

Yummy Authentic Japanese Food
Submitted Thursday, February 15, 2007 - 3:07pm [Dine in]

This place is awesome! The Chicken Karage is to die for. The place serves Japanese food that looks like the food they serve in Japan. Not kidding...I've eaten in Japan and trust me, in Japan, the Japanese food tastes nothing like Vancity Japanese food. However, Hi Genki serves it like the motherland. Loved it! Clean and service is great. Mind you, this place in inside an old folks home and it's great to know that one old folks home has good food for both patients and customers. Other if not all old folks homes have gawd awful bland disgusting food!

OMG...talk about awesome food for a great price. Can you believe this is ALL U CAN EAT! The food is fresh and the selection is large. This is definitely HOT POT heaven. The service is great and the place is clean. The veggies are fresh and clean but then again, every buggie dies in the hot water. Go and try it! I'm not kidding, you'll LOVE it!
