I visited the keg a long time ago and remembered it being quite run down, dark, and stale. After the renovations I have to say that it looks like a brand new restaurant. Finally the owner broke down and through some money at the place. For good reason too since you're spending around $50 a head once you have left. Thats a pretty penny for the locals. Just wanted to let everyone know that the place looks great and the food/service as always was great.
I loved the service that my husband and I got while I was there. Plenty of great option to choose from and the service was fantastic. The lady serving us explained alot about their standards and what needs to happen in order for a guest to have a great experience. It was quite impressive for a burger shop. Its good for kids too. Even though the sounds of screaming little kids can be a little distracting its nice for mom and dad to have a place where their kids can relax and be themselves and not have to worry about other guests. Food was really tasty and quick to be served I think we waited about 15minutes rounds trip from when we put our drink orders in to when we recieved our food. Totally reccomend it to anyone if they have never been there before.
I frequent alot of sushi restaurants around town. This one isn't anything great. I had sushi/sashimi combo and a chicken teriyaki don. sushi/sashimi wasn't bad but exactly the same as every other sushi shop in town. Nothing special. The chicken teriyaki don was disgusting though. Way too much rice and the vegetables looked pre cooked and they loaded wayyyyy too much sauce on the dish. It was too over powering for me to taste anything else. Few chunks of chicken probably frozen not fresh chicken. If you want something hot do not go here. Maybe if you're looking for some quick rolls for sure otherwise give it a pass. The only good thing was the ambiance. It was recently renovated so it looked great. Service was ok too I guess.
Gotta say that they try really hard to make this place work. Its cheap but thats for a reason. The place looks like it was designed and put together about 50 years ago. Even back then there was better decor then what they have in there right now. Service really sucked. Not sure if they thought I worked there or what but I sat down at one of the picnic tables inside the restaurant and no one said anything to me for about 20 mins. I had some time to kill so I just played this out. Maybe they could win me back with some service. Well she finally got around to me and you know the service wasn't that bad. She was very nice and accomodating. The food was total crap though. Its more like Kitchen gone off the Ridge. Maybe my standards are pretty high but when I pay about $10 plus tax and tip for a sandwich I wouldn't mind having some comfortbale furiture to sit in and some better decor to look at. Hope the owner decides to update or else this may be heading out of the Ridge soon.
Okay lets get something straight. I understand that you cannot really expect a whole lot from Chinese food. They usually have a crap load of starch, frozen veggies, and mystery meat. Its kinda like McDonalds. When you're really hungry it kinda tastes good. Well I was really hungry before I ate this dog food and it tasted just like it too. Im not sure what happened to the chef or the recipes but the food is awful now. It wasn't that great before either but certainly not like this. For a dish that is really unhealthy for you it could at least taste good. They need to taste their own food! I have worked in hospitality for years and know a thing or two about mastering a cook book. The best thing you can do is impress yourself and have a little pride in the food you provide to paying guests. They obviously missed the boat on that way of thinking. I will probably give it another try in about 6-9 months, but they have some serious issues to fix before then. Why can't we have fresh, healthy, and simple chinese food. Its not that hard. Wish someone would open something up like that.
I have been reading through some of the reviews previously posted and I must agree on certain items. I am far from an expert, as most people are, but I must say that my fiancee and I went to the Queensborough comlex for a little shopping and found everything to be quite reasonable in the restaurant. Our dining experience started off quite fantastic with an enthusiastic young girl recognizing us when we walked in. She presented a menu and started talking a little bit to us about the menu. We told her that we had never been here before which opened up some conversation between us. Ordering was pretty straight forward. My fiancee is extremely picky, so it took sometime to process his order, but the cashier was able to customize an order to suit what he wanted. We sat down and the food took approximatley 8-9 minutes I suppose this is standard since everyone seemed to get the food around the same time. The food presentation looked very attractive! I felt there could have been a little bit more sauce on my meal but my picky fiancee loved his meal since it was exactly what he envisioned. We finished and twice we had someone check on us to see if our food was ok it almost seemed like a regular restaurant except no tips! Well I guess you could if you wanted. The decor was really nice and we both agreed that it would be a nice place to take a date if you wanted. The manager there explained that most of these locations are close to shopping centers and movie theaters so you could easily include it in your day of outings and rely on some great food and really good service.
Ceratinly a place I would visit again and reccommend to those who want a fast casual healthy restaurant.
