Go for the Guinness, stay for the whiskey

I must admit this is my new favourite little spot in Gastown! I went to the old one a few times but I really like the new one as well.

Their food is excellent with fresh and local ingredients and it's cooked to perfection. My friends always go for the Bangers and Mash. Good size portion. I stick to the pasta and starters as I'm a vegetarian. I really enjoy the Pakoras. They gave a rather large portion and the dipping sauce was delicious.

I usually sneak off to Shabeen in the back when the Heather is busy. It's a great little hide away and they carry the Bulmers I love to drink that's hard to find. A great selection of Whiskey/Whiskys to be had also.

The only thing I think they could improve is having a few more vegetarian options for their entree. It's pasta or pasta. :)

Old classic

I've been going to the Beacon drive in for 10 or so years. I no longer live in Victoria but it's always my first stop when I come back. The ice cream is very creamy and addictive. Their hot fudge sundaes are wonderful too. I did notice last time I was there the service was horrid. The servers forgot multiple orders and were handing out the orders to the wrong people. It was busy, but I've seen it twice as busy in the summer with no confusion. Aside from that it's a great place to go and sit outside and enjoy the park and views.

We showed up on a saturday evening with no reservations. I wasn't expecting to get in but they managed to seat us within 15 minutes in the main dining room. The place was packed and very loud. The waiter was curt but friendly enough and gave good suggestions for vegetarian entrees and wine. I had a wonderful Squash Tortellini with mushrooms and my friend had the Ahi Tuna. The bread they start you off with is simply *amazing* It's very soft and a one variety tasted like the sweet bread my italian friend makes.

They seem a bit under staffed considering the huge crowd. It was a bit hard to get the servers attention to order more wine.

Overall a good experience and fantastic food. I can't wait for warmer weather to have lunch on the outdoor patio. You feel as though you are in Italy!

This is one of those places that is tucked away in Tsawwassen and very few people know about it aside from the locals. I take my visitors from out of town here. It's often one of the food highlights of their trip. You can get bookings a few hours in advance usually. They have an extensive wine list and their servers are knowledable and can suggest things if you arent sure what to pair your food with. One of the things I especially love about this place is that they really cater to your food needs. I tend to go with people that are food divas and the the staff is great about making something special for you. Very fresh vegetables and served crispy no matter what the dish is. I had the gnocchi last time which was fantastic.

The only thing I could say is the the bread they serve before dinner is often too hard to eat. The crust is quite tough (in the oven too long?) and it's not warmed up to where you could use the butter to soften it.

Aside from that one item I highly suggest you check this place out. It's a great place to take family on special occasions and it's reasonably priced for what you get. A large salad, entree and glass of wine each is around 70 dollars for two people.

I love that I don't have to go to the big city to get this kind of quality food!

I had my first Beard Papa's in San Francisco a few years ago. I have been in love ever since. I was excited to learn they were opening one in Canada. Line ups are long and well worth the wait. At this location they are often sold out of the various flavours. The chocolate and stawberry are my favourite when they do have them available. They are what I consider regular japanese pastries. Not too sweet and made with quality and care. It's hard to eat just one. :)
