way too dark

it was one of those restaurants you always pass by but never really visit, so we decided to finally give it a try. well, first off, the restaurant was SO dark that we literally had to hold the menus a couple inches away from our faces to read them. i suppose they couldn't really decide what volume to keep the music at, or maybe they liked specific songs, because at some points we'd be able to talk with the music in the background, and other times we'd have to yell. i had the walnut-spinach-something salad. it was good but doused in dressing, so i got sick of it pretty fast without being satisfied. my date had a burger and fries which weren't bad. overall, not an experience to write home about.

not a hit

i went here with my boss for lunch one day; our first (and now last) time ever stepping into a sammy j peppers restaurant. the waitresses were obviously hired based on looks and how much skin they can possibly show...basically the whole experience started out with a group of waitresses and hostesses having an in-depth conversation with each other at the front desk and then finally acknowledging that you were there to get a seat and have lunch. you basically have to cover your eyes when they're wiping tables or you might be scarred. the food had no flavor at all and was extremely overpriced. not going back.

went here for sunday lunch. the lunch menu was basic; no french fries, just soup or salad as the side. i had the turkey panini; it was good except for the soggy lettuce. the side of pasta salad wasn't anything to write home about either...it was rather small. it was also painfully slow to get the food. however, i enjoyed the decor and the way the restaurant was set up. maybe i'll give the breakfast a try another time.

this is always a great place for quick service and a cheap meal. i love that there's nothing over 10 bucks on the menu. i usually always end up getting the salmon burger - although somewhat messy, it is always so tasty with the tzatziki in it. but honestly, as great as the potatoes are with the sour cream...it's time to convert to some fries!

mr. ho's always rings true when the chinese food craving kicks in. we always order the combo A or C for two (it's pictured in a plastic stand on the table). we just get tons and tons of food, and always enough for another 2 or 3 meals at home. the wonton soup comes almost immediately after ordering and they're always quick to refill the cups and the kettle with tea. what else can i say? i've always been pleased.

the boyfriend and i decided to try this out with the dine out vancouver deal. well, first of all, i had made reservations a week in advance and when we got there on time, someone else had actually claimed they were me and took our seats! fortunately, we were seated quickly, but unfortunately, in a section with a rude and boring waitor. all we heard for the first 30 mins were clanging dishes because we were situated by the kitchen. the waitor took forever to take our order and we probably waited about 20 minutes just for our salads. the table buns came about 30 seconds before the salads and we had to ask for butter ourselves. all of the other tables had it. to be even more pickier, the linen napkins were not placed over our laps by the waitor. the main course was tasty, but the cheesecake tasted like a costco specialty. overall, we experienced the most terrible service and we definitely tipped accordingly.
