One of the regulars
Submitted Monday, July 19, 2010 - 4:13pm [Dine in]

Well, I think the fact that I live the next building over from this cafe makes it one of my regulars, but with that said, I would still frequent this place if it wasnt this convenient.

They have a great menu of hot foods and sandwhiches and everything I've tried there is great!
Their breakfast/brunch menu is simple, but is also quite good.
I dont drink coffee, but a few friends swear that they have some of the best coffee around.
The best part about it is the location. Its right on the sea wall and the outdoor patio is a great place to enjoy some food/drinks and scenery.

The staff is always very friendly and very polite. Definitely a place I will continue going to regularly in the future.

Poor Value, Poor Food
Submitted Monday, July 19, 2010 - 3:13pm [Dine in]

I live in the Yaletown area so one day the wife and I decided to try out this new fast food asian joint.
I have the feeling it is owned by the same owners as the previous restaurant that sat in this spot (Jonker Street Cafe) which rarely had any business. But It looked bright and very clean inside so we thought we'd give it a shot

Boy were we disappointed. We ordered a Thai green curry and a Malaysian Yellow Curry and neither was good at all. They were both extremely bland, and the amount of food you received for an $11 rice bowl was extremely poor value. If they charged $9 for it I'd still consider it extremely poor value.

Although the wife and I did not try anything else, we do not plan on trying this place again as its just not worth it at all.

Not Bad...
Submitted Wednesday, May 26, 2010 - 12:54am [Dine in]

Food was decent, but they were a bit overpriced (for some things) in my opinion....
Everything we had was just "not bad".

They dynamite roll had some lettuce and the prawn tempura and thats it...I typically like mine with some cucumber and some tobiko as well...but maybe thats just my personal preference. Likewise, the spider roll was just OK...the hot sauce was a different than I'm used to so it was a bit different (it wasn't a spicy mayo..it was some red chili paste).
The salmon don was tasty..I always like salmon don...but again the value just wasnt there...other places I sometimes go to have the same size serving of wild salmon on top of a bed of rice for around $10-$11...so at $14, it was on the high side.

Also tried their version of a seaweed salad which was different from anything I've ever had...but it was a nice change...

Karubi Yaki (their beef short ribs) were tasty...wish I had ordered an extra bowl of rice to go with it...that would have been good!

Best Bang for the Buck Breakfast!
Submitted Monday, January 18, 2010 - 8:10am [Dine in]

I love this place...
I dont know why anyone would go to a place like Denny's for a $12 breakfast when you can have breakfast here, 2 eggs, hash browns, sausage/bacon/ham, toast for $3.95...

They have the breakfast special for most of the morning/early afternoon, and even offer all day breakfast (but its around $1.50 more in the evening).

Although the place isnt that appealing visually, its very clean. The service is very good (i dont even need a menu anymore and both the owners and their daughter always know exactly what the wife and I are going to order).

I've been going to this place on average once every 2 weeks, and sometimes multiple times a week for the past 5 or so years and I'll continue going there for breakfast in the future.

The rest of their menu has quite a large variety of options...and is very well priced as well...especially their other daily pasta, sandwich specials...

Great Food with Amazing Service
Submitted Monday, December 28, 2009 - 4:05pm [Dine in]

I've come here a couple times with the parents since its close to their house and have been very happy each time. The food is very good and the fish is very fresh. My favourite dish is probably the miso eggplant though...I've had this dish at a few different places around Vancouver, and its up there with the best of them. The only complaint if I were to be picky would be that I think the tempura has a little too much batter so I would take off some of the batter before eating it, but it is still very good. The best part about this place for me is the customer service though. Each time i've gone, the service has been extremely fast and the servers are very polite. I will be visiting them again in the future.
