Bubble World Tea House555 North Road, Coquitlam
New interior looks a lot better than the old but same BBT
Submitted Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - 1:37am [Dine in]

Lacks good BBT places in Burnaby and Coquitlam unlike Richmond.

Bubble world is probably the best one to go. Too bad they don't have Hot Tea selection like the one near Metrotown. Good chewy pearls. Ask for less sugar for it is pretty sweet.

BBT Coquitlam is closest to my house and is the only place for bbt.

One of the better Korean restaurants in lower mainland.
Submitted Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - 1:34am [Dine in]

A Tip for better service? : Korean restaurants provide buttons on the table or on the wall. You press to ring for service. Just waiting around to get their attention won't work. The food is authentic enough, straight from Korea but they also brought their services with them. Not suitable for Canadian dining experience.

The food is really good here. I love the Gam Ja Tang ( Pork stew hot pot ) and the Haemul Pa Geon ( Seafood pancakes). Soondae ( korean sausage basically ) is the best in town. The proportion is big. My family is a regular here so whenever we do a take out, they give us a lot more than normal. Nice.

I love the new location, close to work for a quick lunch.
The place is bright enough and clean. It suits the neighbouring hotel. Not too sure about the view of BC liquor store across the street though.

I always go there for lunch on Fridays where they serve hot food as chicken with wild mushroom and salmon in butter sauce. Both are pretty delicious.

Their sandwiches are pretty good too. Of course, I will always have my organic spritzer with my meals.

Good stuff!

Oh Boy the food is tasty here! I had my first Thai green Curry ( I don't particularly like curries) here and man sooooo good! I read the reviews on dinehere and took a few friends of mine for a Thai dinner. All of my friends loved it! Especially my friend's pregnant wife. We had the curry, spring rolls, pad thai ( too sweet for us ) spicy squid with vegetables etc. I think this is close to Authentic Thai cuisine you can try in Vancouver. The service was great, the staff were nice. I think the owner is Caucasian? He went around asking if the food was good. The atmosphere is cozy in this small restaurant. I will definitely be back here again.

It was just okay...

My friends and I decided to give this place a try although I wanted to try Green Basil across the street. Too bad I got sucked into listening to them.
Service was attentive. They filled our glass with water constantly.
Food on the other hand.. was oddly fast. It came out quicker than at Chinese restaurants. Weird. The food was just OK. Nothing special. Pad Thai could've been better. We asked for the curry to be mild. It was pretty decent with mushy egg plants. This chicken dish we had was a little too lukewarm for me. Perhaps it's supposed to be like that? Chicken slices were on a bed of spinach with peanut sauce. Anyone familiar with this dish? Other than that.. I probably won't be going back here again.

Hungry on a rainy day..
Submitted Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - 1:05am [Dine in]

I love Thai/Malaysian food and have gone to many thai restaurants in Burnaby and DT Vancouver. I gave Days Thai a 1st try after reading all the reviews here and elsewhere for a home delivery. It was nice of them to willing to deliver to my house since I live more than 5KM in distance from the restaurant for a small fee. However.. the food wasn't so great. I was very disappointed in the PAD THAI. I did consider below reviewer's comment on how mediocre their Pad Thai is yet I gave it a try. Where are the shrimp tofu egg and bean sprouts ?? There was so much noodle..seriously too much and barely any toppings. The sauce tasted like..ketchup and very bland. Prawns with Vegetables had no "prawns" but rather "shrimps" and weren't many in it. It also lacked the spice. Although the curry was pretty decent. A little bit watery for me but nonetheless good with.. I think they used chicken breast. I probably won't be ordering from here again and stick with DT restaurants. but if anyone of you like thai curries, you should give it a try. At least the guy over the phone was nice.

Golden Pita Lebanese Restaurant9630 Cameron St, Burnaby
The and only Lebanese restaurant i know in Burnaby
Submitted Friday, May 22, 2009 - 12:38pm [Dine in]

I LOVE Lebanese food. I work in DT and my lunch is often at Falafel Cafes. Today was my day off and after my gym class I walked down to Lougheed Mall. And to my right there was this Pita Place I had never noticed before! I walked in and it was a lot more Spacier than DT Lebanese Restaurant and the owner greeted me kindly. He was very nice. I ordered the Chicken Plate. Proportion wise, wasn't as big as other places in comparison to the price but the food was very flavourful. The Fresh Tzaziki sauce was yummy. I really want to try the falafels next time because i'm tired of those microwaved ones sold at Falafel King..yuck.

Apparently the restaurant opened last Sunday and boy am I glad we have a quality restaurant such as this in DT. We went in for lunch today and its menu consisted of 2 items for $28 + dessert(AMAZING DESSERT!) . It has cold appetizers/warm appetizers/meat/fish section. I had the Black Truffle Pizza mmm it was a little tad salty for me but the flavour and the Dough was tasteful. Others had Dungeness Crab cakes/Tuna Tartar/Seared Scallop/Shrimp Salad and they said those were delicious too. The Main I had the atlantic char with mashpotatoes and this soury sauce when combined with the fish..omg heavenly! The Ahi Tuna Burger looked so good and the Steak? I definitely need to try that! The dessert was a warm chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream... yum. I can't wait to come back for dinner. I love trying new places for good food and last week I had the dineout at Aqua Riva and it was a horrendous experience for the same price. Horrible.

I gave it a 2nd try.

The first time I went, I had ordered Avocado rolls and some agedashi tofu. Avocado roll was decent, nothing special. Agedashi tofu was nicely fried although the sauce wasnt too tasty.

So I wanted to give another try and went back yesterday to order Chicken Yaki Udon and OMG.
Its sauce was horrible. :S I think they used TonKatsu sauce..sour and salty. It only had cabbage as vegetable. No sprouts or carrots unlike other places. The chicken was alright until i took a bite and tasted its uncooked batter. I didnt even finish halfway. I doubt i'll go back again

The worst service ever..wow
Submitted Saturday, June 7, 2008 - 2:36am [Dine in]

We ordered some funky rolls like Island roll with Kiwi sauce and it tasted refreshing so that was good. Rolls were nicely made but can't say they were tasty. Agedashi tofu was crisp.Tako yaki was well..i've had better. But i give this place a low rating because of the bad, really bad service.
Poor management is the problem here. The place is so disorganized with 3ppl doing all 3 jobs. Bussing, taking orders And cashiering.
And omg..one of the waitresses was so rude! :S
We had to sit around 5 minutes before asking her to take the orders. She didnt come back so we had to ask another. She then got really angry and started glaring at another customer waiting because he didnt respond to her calling his name,10 times out loud right to his face while everyone else was looking at her. But she was pronouncing Leon as Lin so it was understandable he and his party had to confirm with her among the long line up of ppl. Then my parents decided to pay fast and leave because our APPETIZER wasn't coming out when we had finished the mains. Whilst we were paying,it came out so I asked her to pack it for her. 5minutes after paying our bill and sitting around..I can clearly see our order in the box on the Sushi bar yet no one bothers to give it to us. So i went up ,grabbed it myself and asked for a plastic bag.
I know it was a busy night on a weekday but, if you can't handle pressure..dont work there. Ruined our dinner. I feel really bad for taking my family there. It was just the hype.

i thought it was best until..
Submitted Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 1:15pm [Dine in]

Warm and Creamy
I've had the French Vanilla Milk Chocolate to go many many times.
Despite the small proportion, a cup of it was just enough.

But a couple of ones I've had the past week...were really bland :S
Tasted like Warm milk..

So i went to Blenz afterwork to try the so called new "belgian hot chocolate"
it was just as good for less price and bigger proportion.

Koko is still my hg but.. I'll decide whether to stick to it or not next time.

oh man oh man
Submitted Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 1:09pm [Dine in]

Our guests and I were looking for a nice place to dine and dropped by Cupcakes for the wonderful decor!
However, I'll have to agree with the others.

No difference to Safeway cupcakes.
It's what 2.50 per cupcake i expected it to be better ..but
Although the creamcheese icing one was pretty good..the rest were
yes,supermarket quality.

It is highly overrated.
We just shared halves and I walked into next door to buy some cookies instead.

Unlimited Wild Salmon Sashimi mmm
Submitted Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 1:03pm [Dine in]

We've had a few guests coming in town and wanted to dine at a place with a view.
I just love the fact that I can have unlimited amount of melt-in-your-mouth red Salmon sushi/sashimi for either 12 or 21 dollars!
I have been to other ACYE places but yes they serve orangy/fatty salmon sashimi that I do not like at all.

I went on a Sunday night, the house wasnt as busy like the other members have mentioned below..no lineups or anything like that.Although only one server handling our section of the restaurant.. we had no problem getting the food we had ordered. Nonetheless She was attentive and nice.
The con i should say is the proportion. It is like finger food and I had to keep ordering for more. I didnt know but found out in the end that you can ask for Big proportion. But again, there is no limit to how much you can order or how long you can stay so yeah.

My friends and I used to go to Richmond sushi to have our regular ACYE but next time I will recommend this place.

Anton's Bellinis is good!....yeah...
Submitted Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 12:33am [Dine in]

I've been here a few of times. It's always been consistent.

Bellini's is the best i've ever tasted around here. I guess i like the peach slush and that hint of rum.

Food is Okay. I can't say it's a good authentic italian restaurant..because it isnt. It's catered to ppl who would choose Quantity over Quality.
I took the leftovers home(HUGE proportion) and recooked it the next day..omg the past was swimming in Olive Oil. the dishes can be a little too greasy. Come here for just comforting food with a bunch of friends.

I think im used to eating Gelatos..
Submitted Monday, August 27, 2007 - 1:45am [Dine in]

Vancouver has good gelato parlors that I forgot how good ice creams are supposed to taste like.

First time trying for me was pretty darn good. I had Black walnut ice cream with one mixin (cookie dough) in a house-made waffle cone. Smell of the waffle cooking away was heavenly. My friend had the strawberry shortcake. MmM strawberry was fresh and shortcake was nicely combined with the vanilla ice cream he chose.

I still like my mondo gelatos though.. I could come here again if I want to try different specialty ice creams

They must've spent ALOT of money on the Decor, not much on the rest
Submitted Monday, August 27, 2007 - 1:38am [Dine in]

My friends and I went to the Saltlik hoping for a nice upscale dining. All of us have been to the Keg/Gotham Steakhouse etc etc..so hey,why not try a new place?

The atmosphere was pretty darn fantastic with the cool wine cellar on 2nd floor. The restaurant wasn't busy at all..unsual for the weekend evening.

I had a petit filet and it was Petit alright. Good portion for me because I'm a girl who dont eat alot of meat but yeah a size of my fist. "special sauce" wasn't tasty at all..sort of horseradish+sour cream+herbs+lime juice? the baked potato was lukewarm..not enough toppings. The starters were pretty mediocre too..in small portion, rather have good appetizers at Earl's. Winelist was the best thing there actually..

Service: despite the almost empty restaurant, our server didnt come so frequently and our meal came out pretty late. We had 15minutes to sip wine, wait for 10minutes to eat our appetizers, the wait another 10minute for bread..then another 15minutes for our Main dishes. Come on,we were pretty hungry. I dont think I'll go to this place again, although the meat was perfectly cooked for my taste,i should try other steakhouses next time

Another gem on North Road
Submitted Thursday, July 5, 2007 - 1:08am [Dine in]

It hasnt been opened for long. But I've probably went to this place 5 times last month..and today too but it was closed (Wednesday is a holiday for them)

I love the fact that it's actually "stone grilled" (and much much more cheap than the actual Stone Grill place at Yaletown).

The food doesnt burn off as quickly as..well other BBQ restaurants with the traditional on Gas Grill.

The meat is very tender..side dishes varies.. but Bi Bim Naeng Myun is NOT GOOD. It's just hot with no other taste to it but MooL Naeng Myun is the best I've ever tasted in Vancouver.

The place is clean and neat. Also the lady who works there most of the time is very nice and comes back to check up on us.
