Chef Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle4151 Hazelbridge way, 2800, Richmond
all hype
Submitted Sunday, January 31, 2010 - 2:39am [Dine in]

Called ahead to find out the best time to come so we wouldn't have to wait in line. Hence, we were able to get a table for 8 right away. I'm glad we did this as the food would not have been worth the long wait.

the side dishes were either poor or acceptable. Not better than any other taiwanese place.

tried the champion beef noodle as it's "champion" and well, not worth $11 for sure. The beef was very tender and tasty, soup was good but not spicy at all when it should be. Couldn't tell the difference between the regular broth and the spicy broth. Small serving for $11.

What really bothered us was how they were rushing us to eat and leave. The servers were hovering over our table to collect empty bowls as soon as we've put down our chopsticks. I was asked 3 times for my bowl when clearly, i was still working on it. Same goes for my 2 other friends. In the end, they just took our bowls w/o asking. I understand that they have a long line up and prefer a quick turn over but they shouldn't sacrifice service over this.

In the end, we were disappointed and will not return. $11 is too much to pay for a noodle soup. I'm just glad we didn't line up for it.

Terrible!!!
Submitted Sunday, August 5, 2007 - 10:41pm [Dine in]

I can't believe this place is still open. It started out as this very expensive Japanese restaurant with acceptable tasting food. But I guess it wasn't making any money so it decided to join the All You Can Eat bandwagon. What a mistake! The food was definitely the worst I've tasted. The table was sticky, the food was bad, the service was the worst I have ever encountered and everything that could go wrong, went wrong. This place should close down!

fusion food gone bad
Submitted Sunday, August 5, 2007 - 10:30pm [Dine in]

Nothing special with this place. Overpriced fusion food, if you can even call it that. It's like eating at a chinese version of Old Spaghetti factory. Why this place is still making money, i don't know.

what happened?!
Submitted Friday, October 27, 2006 - 11:37pm [Dine in]

This place used to be the best place for ribs in town. It's better than tony romas or the keg (my opinion). Then what happened? Last time we were there i still remmeber how packed it was and how great the atmosphere was. But now, it feels like we're dining in a ghost town. the service was really poor. When we got to our table, our server didn't show up for about 15 minutes.. the manager ended up coming to our table because our server was busy elsewhere. It took forever to get our water or even the bread (cold too) and when our meal came, all the side dishes were cold or hard! The ribs tasted good though (baby back ribs) otherwise, not really the best place to go for ribs anymore. Good thing we had a coupon so we didn't have to pay full price. Overall, this place needs better management. too bad since the ribs are good...

The best chinese rest. in richmond? i dont think so
Submitted Friday, October 27, 2006 - 11:30pm [Dine in]

Went to this place after reading in the local paper that it was voted as the best chinese restaurant in richmond. Considering the number of chinese restaurants in richmond(gazillion), i just had to try it since the public feels it's better than a lot of really good ones out there. AS it is called Wun tun rest. i decided to get the wuntun noodle. To my disappointment, there was nothing special about the wuntun... it was actually one of the worst i've had. The soup was alright and the noodle wasn't the best. We also ordered beef brisket soup as they are out of bbq duck (how can you run out of bbq duck with the place specializes in bbq meat?) Didn't taste like good chinese food no wonder i didn't see any chinese people in the place. Not going back again.

doesn't get any worse!
Submitted Friday, October 27, 2006 - 11:22pm [Dine in]

We vowed never to step foot on a BP franchise again. It's been over 3 years since we've been to a BP so i thought maybe we could try it again and maybe it has changed. WRONG! Again, the hostess was nowhere to be found.. when we were finally seated, the server only came to bring our food and left.. we didn't get our waters refilled and the food took forever. The french onion soup is the worst i've tasted ever. The onion weren't chopped properly. The pasta dish i ordered was even worse! I make better foo than that! the server always ignored us and it was definitely a bad experience. I can't believe that after all these years, things just never change. They need a better management and fire all the staff.

worst service ever
Submitted Friday, October 27, 2006 - 11:18pm [Dine in]

Came here because it was close by. Got there, waited a while before a hostess acknowledged our presence (she was busy chatting with other coworkers) then when we finally got our table, we were ignored for over 10 minutes. We kept waiting and waiting for the server to come but he/she never came. We got so tired of waiting that we just stood up and left. Last time i'll ever step into a boston pizza again!
