I have been a regular for both Tomokazu and Ninkazu for nearly 4 years. I have been coming to this restaurant since I began college. I must say that times has certainly changed.
The food at this restaurant is generally excellent and very very solid everytime. The food quality for both restaurants is similiar as the Sashimi is fresh, and the fish to rice ration is awesome for sushi. The biggest difference is the rolls. The rolls at Tomkazu is from heaven while the rolls at sister restaurant Ninkazu are from hell!! The rolls are solid and a delight to the eyes while at the same time I can comment that the rolls at the sister restaurant NInkazu fall fall apart like it was picked from the garbage.
The calamari and deep fried foods such as the spring rolls and tempura are so crispy and yummy. The best feature is the bbq foods which is korean bbq is marinated to perfection.
The service is quite crappy. I was visiting a group of friends and actually already had dinner and I was kicked out because I couldn't eat. I offered to buy beer and drinks which I said would be more than the cover charge but the manager refused. He wasn't very nice!!!
The ambiance and environment is clean but has dirty stinky washrooms. The late night has the best value overall especially because it has bbq foods however, if your a raw fish lover have the deluxe.
If you want better sushi go Tomokazu.. if you want better service go Ninkazu. If you want better ambiance... well I would say Tomokazu is cozier. The value is obviously equal.
As I said as things change maybe I should seek out other better restaurants.
