Gyoza King is one of the best Izakaya in Vancouver, and this explains why their line at the door is always long. They offer a wide range of traditional plus a few inspiring dishes. Must trys are their gyoza(dumplings), (if you like total raw beef) gyu yukke, and a tofu dish that I don't remember the name. Servicewise, it is just like the tiny restaurants in Osaka, Japan. If you have chance try to sit by the bar and talk to the kitchen staffs. Plus if you sit there, you can ask them for extra seaweed, order to them and stuff like that.
Tried it today. Food is not bad. Prices for lunch specials are reasonable. Nice ambience. Located around offices so lunch is expected to be busy. Yet they only have 1 server who is also the hostess. Poor her..yet she tried her best to serve like 7 tables at a time so service-wise was not bad. Every requests I made to her was done right away. Will go back for sure.
There probably almost 3 years ago. Nice decorations. Nice food and nice presentation. Honestly their foods were really good but all of them are very small portion. It's like you're ordering a lot of appetizers till you are full. But it was really delicious. So if you don't care about prices then GO FOR IT!
I LOVE THEIR SOUP. I always go there myself for lunch and I enjoy their number 1 and 30 (the spicy noodle in soup). Their rice are also good. I never add the fish sauce on the meat when I have the rice cause it will make the meat cold and it will taste greasy. Spring rolls are always crispy, but sometimes overcooked. I tried their seafood noodle once and it can't compare with the beef ones; it was just soso.
Regular service, fast food preparation when not busy. Lunch always packed.
It's been almost 2 years ago and I still remember how great me and my girlfriend was treated that night. We went there for the DOV08 and everything from the moment we stepped in the the restaurant till we get our coat back was magical. Foods were yummy, desserts were even better. We told the server that my girlfriend doesn't like chocolate at all, and the chef prepared something else which was not even on the DOV menu for her! The talks with the servers and the bus person was fun and great as well! I am a guy and I am straight and I still have to say that they were allll handsome! =D
The only bad thing was it's too noisy because it was packed; or it means that they are GREAT!
Me and my girlfriend decided to have her birthday dinner there. We requested a nice seat and we had the worst seat ever: a small square table by the window, with a big pole blocking the view and two sides of the table. We had to squeeze in for the whole night. When the server approached us, her attitude was like "you won't tip good for sure, so I am not going to provide great service to you" kinda look. At first I didn't believe she's like that, so I tested her by asking which red wine she suggest. Her neglect told me that she was for real.
Me and my girl friend didn't enjoy a lot that night and we regret choosing them.
We went there last weekend for a gather. 7 people on a long table. table was too small and the plates were too big. Great value tho. We only ordered 1 spinach salad, 1 personal size pizza and something else which I can't recall cause I didn't have a chance to try that before it's all gone. And 3 entree pastas. We were all totally stuffed.
I could tell that our server was great but she was too occupied. At least she tried her best.
Overall, not bad for a casual dinner gathering!
