Awesome Burritos
Submitted Saturday, June 28, 2014 - 10:50pm [Dine in]

I heard great things about this place from friends and decided to try it. We both ordered burritos with pulled pork and this is the first time I can honestly say I loved the pulled pork. Everywhere else I ever ate (various types of restaurants) their pulled pork was always watery and flavourless but here - it was not watery and had a lot of flavor - so this is what pulled pork is supposed to tasted like? I definitely will have it here again.

We both ordered their smallest burritos and they were huge, we left stuffed and happy. We will definitely return here and recommend it to all our friends who haven't been here yet.

First time Here - Yummmmm
Submitted Friday, March 21, 2014 - 8:23pm [Dine in]

I came here for lunch after walking by this restaurant for ages and decided to try it out. The service was very quickly friendly. I ordered the Malaysian Chicken with Rice and it was incredibly great. Lots of flavour, the perfect amount of heat and the perfect amount of food as I left feeling full and happy.

My only complaint is against myself - why didn't I come here sooner instead of walking by this place all this time. I not only will return I will be recommending this place to all my friends.

C-Lovers Fish & Chips6640 Royal Avenue, West Vancouver
Best Non-greasy light tasting fish Ever
Submitted Friday, March 21, 2014 - 8:17pm [Dine in]

We've been to the "other" fish and chips joint in Horseshoe Bay several times but decided to try C-Lovers for a change - wow! wow! wow! Did I say wow?? First, the downside - the service was slow - we sat ourselves down and had to wait, wait and wait for someone to come and ask if we wanted anything to drink. Okay, they were busy but not overcrowded. We placed our order and about 20-25 minutes later we finally got our dinner - did go fishing to get our fish? as how long does it take to deep fry fish?

After the first bite all was forgiven - the service may be slow but the incredibly awesome food made up for it. The 3 of us ordered Haddock (one with chips the other two with caesar salads) and we all agreed - that is one incredibly delicious fish. The batter is light (not over coated), it's crispy and not greasy at all and the size was beautifully generous. The caesar salad didn't have much flavour but it was okay, better than some other places that we've been to. It took a while to get our bill (again slow service) but that's okay as we weren't in a hurry.

So the food is great but if you are in a hurry to catch a ferry, make sure you arrive here way ahead of schedule as you might miss the ferry (even though the food might be worth missing it).

Pushy Clerk behind the Counter - do they work on Commission?
Submitted Wednesday, December 25, 2013 - 4:48pm [Dine in]

First time here didn't know what to expect (except for what I read on the website). The girl behind the counter was very pushy in first trying to sell us a whole chicken for dinner, we said no, too much food. My partner asked for the 1/4 chicken (drumstick/thigh) with a side over of caesar salad - the girl was pushy asking 3 times if he was sure he didn't want two 1/4 pieces, he said no (he can't eat half a chicken himself) she still pushed it.....do they work on commission for this girl to be so pushy in trying to sell more than what we want or could eat? I asked where they kept the condiments and straws - she didn't answer, maybe she didn't hear my my partner asked - he was ignored, he asked again, again he was ignored. Next she was busy trying to push beer onto us instead of pop - they must work on a commission, at least that's how she behaved.

We picked a table. The server was much more pleasant - friendly and attentive. The 1/4 chicken and caesar was delicious. My chicken sandwich and peri peri fries were also delicious. If the service was better we would go back, but because of such a horrible disappointment with such a money hungry pushy clerk behind the counter, I will wait a few years (if ever) in hopes of their staff learning more about better customer service.

First Time Here Loved It
Submitted Friday, February 15, 2013 - 7:35pm [Dine in]

Came here for the first time and loved it. We ordered the Bhel Puri appetizer - very delicious. Light and tasty. For the main course we ordered butter chicken, Tofu Tikka Masala and Kashmiri Pulao Rice with naan bread. I was thrilled to have a choice on how hot we wanted it (mild, medium or spicy) and we chose spicy for both dishes. It was interesting how although both were supposed to be spicy the butter chicken wasn't as spicy as the other dish but for me it was perfect (the butter chicken). We ordered too much food for two people, could have ordered just the butter chicken or the Tofu but now we know for next time. The servers were very friendly, a very pleasant atmosphere and the prices are very reasonable. We definitely will return.

Love this Place
Submitted Saturday, January 19, 2013 - 11:29am [Take-out]

I have eaten here several times over the past year and every time I have been very happy with my wrap. The servers behind the counter are always friendly. Their menu has many types of wraps, rice bowls, salads and smoothies. I have been working my way through the menu to eventually try every wrap and so far I have been happy with each wrap. I personally favour the 'Santa Fe' wrap (salad wrap) and the 'Jimmy the Greek wrap (rice wrap). I also love that they have 3 choices of sizes from a kids size to large (regular is very filling for lunch). I definitely will go back again and again and recommend it to all.

New Mgmt Food not as good as previous Mgmt
Submitted Saturday, January 19, 2013 - 11:02am [Dine in]

My last review was under the previous order (fabulous dinners). We went there hopeful but were disappointed. We walk in only 1 tables has customers, otherwise empty. The servers behind the bar they immediately yell out hello, but don't offer to seat us or tell us to help ourselves and went back to whatever they were doing. Several minutes later, they finally tell us to seat ourselves. After bat 5 minutes the waitress finally bring menus and left (didn't ask if we wanted a drink). Eventually she comes back, takes our order. The food arrived very quickly. We both ordered the calamari dinner and both of us had the same reaction - the calamari was rubbery, the lemon potato needed a steak knife to cut it as it was overcooked, and nothing to dip the pita bread into. But the rice and greek salad were good. I couldn't eat it all as it was a generous portion so I asked for the rest to go. The next day I opened the package and everything was there but none of the dip for the calamari that I had leftover, oh well. Will I back, maybe in a couple of years to see if they improved but not that this point. There are much better greek restaurants in North Van.

Great Service but Disappointing Souvlaki
Submitted Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 8:55am [Dine in]

My first time here and decided to have Lamb Souvlaki (my favorite in other greek restaurants). The fellow behind the counter was very fun and friendly.

Prices are reasonable. The greek salad is made to order so if you do not want olives or peppers or something not in it, they will not include it (I like that). The lamb was cooked right there on the spot. The lamb souvlaki meal consisted of 1 skewer of lamb, greek potatoes, rice and Tzatziki sauce. I took it home and dug in and found myself disappointed. The only thing I enjoyed was the greek salad.

When I bit into the lamb, all I could taste was the herb Rosemary (way too overpowering) - I could not taste the lamb at all, but, at least it wasn't overcooked and dry, it was moist just the wrong flavor. The rice was bland and looked more like fried rice. The potatoes - were bland and mushy. They were obviously and a day or two before and just reheated. The only way I could get any flavor on them was by dipping them into the Tzatziki sauce.

Will I go back? I will be fair and give them one more shot but I will not try or recommend any souvlaki as it includes bland rice and bland mushy potatoes. One thing did catch my eye for next time - they have a shrimp sandwich made with pita bread. That sounds interesting and hopefully not bland like the souvlaki or overpowering in a wrong flavor.

Great Pizza, Low Price
Submitted Saturday, September 19, 2009 - 2:50pm [Dine in]

A friend and I went here for lunch. We found the place to be extremely busy but the service was so fast we were in and out with our pieces of pizza to eat in the park very quickly.

This place is very clean and the workers are very friendly. The pizza was great. The crust was delicious. I loved that there were several pizzas out to choose what we wanted. It was not greasy, it was generous in the toppings. I will definitely be returning here again and again.

High Prices with Small Portions
Submitted Saturday, September 12, 2009 - 3:52pm [Dine in]

I've been to several greek restaurants and many recommended Mythos. Go in, nice and clean with quick and friendly service. We had BC Mussels in tomato sauce as appetizers - delicious.

For the main course we both had the lamb souvlaki. When it arrived I was surprised at how small the portions were. It same with lamb (removed from the the skewer which was nice), one potato and greek salad. No rice? every greek restaurant I've been too have potato and rice with the lamb. The greek salad was a very small portion and overloaded with way too much cheese.

The lamb was overcooked for our liking - it was very well done. Oddly enough the best part was the potato in that main dish.

Will we go back? Definitely not $68 (before tip) for 1 appetizer, 2 lamb savouki's and 2 beers is a tab pricey considering the small portions. We went home and had snacks because we were still hungry - usually if you go to a greek restaurant you are so full and leave with a doggy bag but not here.

Pricey but good sandwiches
Submitted Wednesday, July 29, 2009 - 11:35pm [Dine in]

$5.99 plus tax for an egg salad sandwich? Wow!!! I've tried various sandwiches here over the past couple of years and although they taste great they are overpriced. To make it worth it you are best to order a sandwich and get everything put on it otherwise it's overpriced. That $5.99 I paid (other sandwiches cost more) did not include a beverage - that's just the sandwich.

It was good but not something I would spend my money on on a regular basis.

Expensive meals should have outstanding taste
Submitted Wednesday, July 29, 2009 - 11:30pm [Dine in]

Four of us came here. Wednesday evening, arrived at 6:15, were told it would be a 30 minute wait. 1 hour later we were finally seated.

Three had the prime rib classic and one had a sirloin. The Caesar salad was the worst I've ever had. The dressing tasted like they just poured lemon juice over top of the lettuce. That was not a Caesar salad dressing. None of us finished our salads.

My prime rib was cooked to perfection (rare) but it was a very fatty piece. The baked potatoe was great and the mushrooms weren't that great as they tasted like they were canned mushrooms and not fresh.

The second person enjoyed his prime rib but also found it to be a fatty piece. The person having the third prime rib sent it back as it was too rare - she requested medium rare. But was happy when it came back.

The fourth person in the group with the sirloin found his steak to be bad. The rest of us tried it and yes, it was bad. The waitress was apologetic and took it back to the kitchen and returned with another. He said it was okay but not worth the price they charge.

Will we come back? Maybe, if I am not in a hurry as we didn't leave until 9:45 because their service was slow - slow seating, slow to take our order, slow to bring drinks, slow to bring the bill.

Are there new owers? Suddenly price increase and less toppings
Submitted Saturday, June 13, 2009 - 11:31am [Dine in]

We have been regulars for a few years with Bella Candela - way back to when they were higher up on Lonsdale. It has been a couple of months since we last ordered pizza and last night was the night we wanted our favorite - the Mediterranean gourmet vegetarian pizza.

Noticed instantly the increase in the price of the pizza, oh well, one has to expect that. But the problem was he opened up the box and I asked - where's the toppings? And why is the pizza so greasy? This pizza is usually loaded with lots of chunks of toppings - always been very generous in that area. Now - the only chunks were the tomatoes - everything else was minced and where was the basil? I saw the pesto sauce on it but not one basil leaf (there's usually tons).

The taste was "okay" but not great. It was greasy and they put too much sauce on it (you can double up on toppings but should never double up on sauce as that ruins a pizza). The crust was even the same - it was thin and bland (the crust was always so good, like eating bread, but anyone.

I asked the hubby if it was a new cook there and he said nope, he was told new owners and it seems to be more Mexican now. Sigh!!! Oh well, at least we had many years of great pizza. Unfortunately I am not about to go back for more greasy pizza that is skimpy on the topping and charges way too much. So, saddly we are now shopping for a new pizza place for us to be regulars with.

How disappointing. It was worth driving the extra distance to go there, but not for what we got.

Not Bad, prices reasonable
Submitted Friday, May 29, 2009 - 8:34pm [Dine in]

Arrived at 5:20 and it was half full already and 2 tables reserved - definitely recommend reservations if arriving for dinner on a Friday night.

The restaurant is small but very quaint. I liked it. Service was quick. The menu wasn't super large but we still had difficulty choosing as everything looked so good. I can't recall the names of the dishes but one was chicken over spinach with peanut sauce (the chicken was overcook - very dry) and the sauce was too thin but still tasted very good. The other dishes we had (also can't remember the names) but there were okay, nothing outstanding. The noodles were a tad bland and the spicy dishes had just a hint of heat (Canadianized I guess).

Will we go back, sure some day but it didn't knock my socks off to want to return soon as it was okay. Oddly enough the waitress didn't even come by to ask how things were, I found that odd and made us feel not so welcome as she was asking other tables how they were doing - maybe she was shy? (don't so). But some day sure we'll return.

Lost my Order
Submitted Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 12:45am [Dine in]

I phoned in my order for delivery. They said 30-40 minutes which was expected on a Friday night. 55 minutes later still no pizza so we called them back. They claimed we never called and placed an order. After some discussion we reminded them of what we ordered and demanded that it be at our place within 20 minutes. It arrived in 10 minutes (I wonder if we got someone else's order to be that quick). The pizza was average, nothing special and definitely not worth the hassle we went through. Will we return? Definitely not.

Great breakfast, not bad lunch, dinner okay
Submitted Friday, May 16, 2008 - 11:56pm [Dine in]

We've been here many, many times over the years. We love their breakfast - never disappointed the breakfast food but the service every time we have been there have been super slow (even when there are only 2 or 3 other tables with people) - slow to get the coffee, slow for them to take the order but once it's ordered the food does arrive quickly.

Lunch is always not too bad, never disappointed but not outstanding. We've been there a few times over the years for dinner hoping that it has been improved since previous dinner visits but no, it's never really changed - not outstanding food, just okay.

You want to go early for breakfast on Sundays as they do get busy as they have great breakfasts.

Great Food, Quick Take Out, Slow Inside
Submitted Friday, May 16, 2008 - 11:31pm [Dine in]

We've eaten here 6 times - 3 times we dined inside the restaurant and 3 times we either called or went in and ordered take out.

The food is fantastic. We've tried many different things from the menu and loved everything, never been disappointed. I especially love that they use real crab for their California rolls and not imitation crab (that is a major plus to me and they are cheap on the crab).

The only complaint I have is.......if you dine in the restaurant their service is extremely slow. But if you do a take out every single time the take out food was ready in about 10 minutes. We were there last night and from the time we sat down to when the food finally arrived 25 minutes passed (we were the only ones in the restaurant). As for them giving us the invoice when we were finished - the waitress didn't come back so after waiting 15 minutes after finishing our dinner we finally went to the back and paid (maybe it's supposed to be that way??)

So, if you want great sushi, this is the place. If you want quick service - do take out. If you are not in a rush (or don't mind waiting 25 minutes for your sushi to arrive on your table) you can pass the time by watching (no sound) their tv they have on their wall. (oddly enough we can call the order in, go down and pick it up and return home doing all that in less time that it normally takes for the food to arrive on your table when you dine in (somehow that's not right but has happened all 3 times for us). Take out is the way to go here.

Not too bad
Submitted Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 9:54pm [Dine in]

We used to come here once a month always enjoying their burgers and breakfasts. It's been years since we've been here and twice over the past couple of months have decided try it again.

When were there for dinner we were very pleased - the burgers tasted just as great now as they did years back. Pricier but in line with other places. We were glad to see our favorites still on the menu.

When we were there for breakfast we noticed that they seemed to used an awful lot of hash browns as a filler on the plate (way more than anywhere else but unfortunately their hash browns looked and tasted like they came out of a bag, not that great. The Eggs Benedict were not bad but could have used more hollandaise sauce as they put only about 1 tablespoon of sauce over each egg.

Overall it was okay. The service was quick and friendly. We'll probably eventually go back when in the mood for a burger but not for breakfast. Over $10 for a plate of Eggs Benedict that were overloaded with not-so-good hash browns and such little sauce wasn't worth the price.

Best Fish & Chips Ever
Submitted Saturday, November 10, 2007 - 8:58pm [Dine in]

This was our first visit here. It was packed but there were a couple of spots at the counter for us which we enjoyed. The service was very quick and very friendly.

We both ordered 1 piece cod fish and chips. Boring you might think for an Oyster Cafe but no...they were THE best fish and chips I have ever had. Nothing was greasy. The batter was very light. The chips were delicious. Excellent tartar sauce and the nice surprise is they came with coleslaw that was delicious.

When we left I told my DH that the next time we go to Granville Island we are definitely coming back here. I can't think of anything negative to say about this place and I can be brutally honest but this place is superb.

Fabulous - never disappointed
Submitted Monday, September 3, 2007 - 6:30pm [Dine in]

We have been going here for years. For birthdays, anniversaries and for no other reason than to just go out. The dinners are always fantastic and very consistent in taste each time you go there. Many restaurants tend to have their dishes taste differently depending on the chef but not here - very consistent.

The service is always very quick and from the host/hostess to the server everyone is always friendly and smiling. I especially like how sometimes there is a pianist playing the piano (very romantic), especially since the lights are fairly dimmed for a nice setting (but not too dark).

We have never been disappointed and I always take out of town guests there and all are always pleased.
