O, and I forgot to add:
You can get juicy cubes of beed on skewers for cheap (Cheaper than ordering steak!) Different parts of beef, pork cheek, pork belly, etc and then also cooked in different ways.... I think you can get pork cheek in 3 different ways, at least!
Total disappointment! I had much higher expectations, only to be shot down (and having a hungry date, after we'd just spend almost $60 was a joke)! I'll recommend ANY of the other tapas places of this.
Attempt at fusion, but way overdone. Yes, some items sounded interesting, but when it reaches the palette, it really doesn't wow me... as for whether it is substantial to even make it's way to the stomach...
We don't mind spending the $, but expect afterwards to be satisfied, in both quantity and quality.
Attempt as well at classy modern/earth-loving decor. At a closer look, some parts are nice, others are cheap solutions. Chairs are not comfortable.
Afterwards, we went out for noodle in soup.... =(
I like their Rmd location better. These, along w/ Guu Garlic, are our 2 favourite izakaya places. I like variety, so I enjoy that you can cover about 70% of the menu between just 2 people. W/O drinks, you can do very well on just over $15/person. And that's a lot of food already!
My faves: duck salad w/ the garlic chips, beef tataki (loooove the ponzu sauce), maguro yuuke, and get this -- udon, w/ mushrooms & bacon!!!
The Robson location offers ramen in soup, and less variety in robata. The Rmd location is the reverse.
My only knock: looooong wait, unless you go crazy early! (But not as long a wait a Guu). The nice thing, though, is that everything's there, so if there's a wait, you can move elsewhere!
This, along w/ Gyoza King's Nan Chuu in Rmd are our 2 favourite izakaya places. I like variety, so I enjoy that you can cover about 70% of the menu between just 2 people. W/O drinks, you can do very well on just over $15/person. And that's a lot of food already!
My faves: duck salad w/ the garlic chips, ebi-mayo, and just about everything on their specials menu.
My only knock: looooong wait, unless you go crazy early -- even on week nights!
