Marcello Pizzeria1404 Commercial, Vancouver
Italian feeling but food can improve
Submitted Sunday, November 23, 2008 - 1:53pm [Dine in]

After a longer break I returned to Marcello's. I wanted to show my bf one of the great Italian restaurants on Commercial. I used to have excellent food there. The pizza and gnochi were always great.
As usual it was very busy but luckily we didn't need to wait. We got a really nice spot and the waitress came fairly soon to take our order. We immediately ordered food as well as we were kind of hungry...then we waited for at least 10-15 min till our wine arrived and a little longer for our salad. It was busy but I expected the kitchen and bar to be a bit faster. Especially when it comes to wine and salad.
We got our entrees in time and had pasta and calzone. The calzone was just o.k. (a bit greasy) but the pasta was undercooked or very al dente and very garlicy... I was a bit surprised that the food wasn't as outstanding as I remembered it. A bit later my bf ordered some more bread and we thought it would be a freebie but in the end they charged every single piece. I am used to free bread in virtually every Italian restaurant I visited. Seems like Marcello's needs to make money out of everything.
All this came with a price tag of nearly 80 bucks...not worth it I think, sorry Marcello...

Ki Sushi31 8th St, New Westminster
Best Sushi in the Suburbs

'Ki Sushi' formerly 'Kirin' has amazingly good Sushi. I found this treasure several years ago and return very regularly. The area is not the best which makes the restaurant an even more pleasant surprise. Their fish is always amazingly fresh and tasty. From rolls to tempura and yakisoba it's always a pleasure to eat there and it's so cheap too. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Foggy Dew Irish Pub405 North Road, Coquitlam
Best burgers

The Foggy Dew is an excellent place to have a really good burger. All their burgers are delicious and for this price extremely good value. I love the lamb, chicken and salmon ones. Haven't tried much of their other food although I am by far no burger-only eater. But when I crave for burger I go to the Foggy. The service is o.k. and the ambiance is nice. I return regularly.
