This is one frustrating restaurant! The pizzas and other menu items are interesting and usually good to excellent, the location and ambiance are warm and cozy...but more often than not the reception and service are cold, unfriendly and sometimes downright rude. We've eaten here probably two or three times a year for several years, enough to consider ourselves regulars, and have found the above to be consistently true. This weekend was probably the final straw for us; our dinner was the low point of a pleasant visit to Snug Cove.
We had good food but the server and other host staff were way too preoccupied with one or two tables of friends/business associates to bother with my wife and I. Our questions about the menu were answered with a wordless flick of the hand at the menu itself. Menus were whisked out from under our noses as we ordered, and we were barely given time to add things like a salad or a glass of wine. Food was plunked without ceremony in front of us. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal and I don't recall hearing the words "thank you" once all night, including as we exited. I also can't recall anything we did to provoke this sort of rudeness.
The Tuscany does seem to have a loyal following and is almost always busy when we visit. Perhaps that's why they don't feel the need to make customers feel welcome, or feel that their business is appreciated. Whatever the reason, I'll stick to ordering take out in the future so I only have to put up with brusque help when I collect my pizza box at the door.
