Overpriced Mediocre Diner
Submitted Wednesday, May 19, 2010 - 5:34pm [Dine in]

I wasn't expecting much from a typical family diner like this, but the food was worse than expected..overly processed and greasy and quite expensive compared to..pretty much everywhere else which fits into this category. Don't do it unless you're desperate! I'd even recommend you go into one of those dirty looking places down the street..better food for 3$ compared to 9$ for breakfast. Boo.

Just another falafel joint among many
Submitted Wednesday, May 19, 2010 - 5:28pm [Dine in]

Nothing special. My boyfriend is the one who always takes us in...and it's not like there are any outstanding falafel places on The Drive..though if you keep walking, I believe you can get a cheaper deal..and better service. The atmosphere is dark and dingy...apart from that there is nothing wrong with the place. It's just not worth going out of your way to go here.

Coffee is always bitter
Submitted Wednesday, May 19, 2010 - 5:25pm [Dine in]

Came here once as the atmosphere drew me in...colourful, pretty old building. Baked goods are decent.. though the scones are hard and bland and their coffee is always bitter (even with the addition of sugar and cream, mind you.) Apart from maybe 1 or 2 of the counter staff the rest seem quite awkward and avoid eye contact sometimes..kinda rude. Go for their soup and savory items.

Best Value and quality for diner food
Submitted Wednesday, May 19, 2010 - 5:16pm [Dine in]

Been there twice. Very busy place...probably because you get a mountain of decent-tasting food for very cheap. 2.95$ all-day breakfast special gives you more food than the similar deals that other greasy spoons will give. The servers are friendly once they finally notice you... I have one complaint about their fruit cup..mine tasted fishy as if it were prepared on a contaminated cutting board or stored in a fridge with other smelly things abound. Ah well.

Cheaper Than T&T Bakery
Submitted Monday, November 2, 2009 - 10:41pm [Dine in]

Similar selection but better prices than Chinatown's T&T Supermarket. Service is efficient, not rude..and the bakery seems clean and professionally run. What else can be said? I've shopped here a number of times and have not been let down. I believe Sun Fresh Bakery has a bit more selection (but no cakes) and worse service.

Best Chinatown Experience So Far
Submitted Monday, November 2, 2009 - 10:35pm [Dine in]

..Thats something to say. This place is nothing special or fancy, but the food was good and the price is quite cheap. Service was much more polite than places such as The Boss Restaurant and the ambiance was comfy. You can get traditional western-style diner food or Chinese.. we both ordered the hamburger platter and milkshakes. All for less than 20$

Nice Little Neighbourhood Cafe

I live very close to this place and have only officially had coffee there once while waiting to meet our landlord. Since then, we've occasionally dropped in to buy milk for convenience sake. Their shop is pricey, but the ambiance and service is quite welcoming and the products are of quality. I think that the coolest time to drop in would be after dark...

Cool Place
Submitted Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 11:52pm [Dine in]

Decent food to sample with friends at surprisingly decent prices for the type of restaurant it seemed to want to be. Food was beautifully presented and service was friendly, quick, and attentive despite how busy it was. Though I admit the food isn't exactly to my taste (especially the rare duck) I don't think that counts as a valid reason.

Cozy Spot for a Home Cooked Meal at a Decent Price
Submitted Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 11:48pm [Dine in]

I've been here twice. Tasty food at good value and very friendly owner. The atmosphere is cozy...my only issue is that both times I thought the bread had this strange taste...and I'm sure that it isn't just me because my boyfriend brought that up without mention. So thoughts of the bread led to thoughts about the sanitary conditions of the kitchen, and...well, maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Good, Cheap Food
Submitted Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

The title says it all. Tasty food at great value. My boyfriend and I ate to our hearts content for less than $18. The ambiance isn't that great..I can't recall if it had fluorescent lighting. Hrmm. It's basically like a diner. The service isn't overly friendly or attentive, but having lived and shopped around Chinatown, we knew what to expect. Nothing outstanding, but would definitely go back if hungry and too lazy to cook.

Average western-style Japanese food
Submitted Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 11:34pm [Dine in]

I was looking forward to going to this place for sometime and jumped at the opportunity to try one of their halloween specials advertized in Klip. My meal was cutely presented and it was tasty, but nothing outstanding. My boyfriend got a set with wafu hamburg and was kinda disapointing. There are much better deals in town, or at least better food. But we quite enjoyed the pumpkin sundae..I'd go again for the dessert menu if in the area. Service is friendly enough though seemed a bit spacey and ambiance was cozy..diner-like.

A Good Place for Tea
Submitted Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 11:26pm [Dine in]

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the cheese fondue and our teas. The ambiance is clean and contemporary and the male waiter was nice enough. True, it was a bit overpriced, but I knew what I was ordering and I wasn't expecting a meal, just afternoon tea and snacks. I don't think this place deserves a 1-star rating for the fondue just because it can be done at home. I would go again for the tea at least.
