So Disappointed - Really Miss Villa Del Lupo
Submitted Sunday, May 15, 2011 - 7:17pm [Dine in]

We loved Villa Del Lupo and had been many times, but it had taken a bit of a downturn, unfortunately. When Lupo opened, we'd read some good reviews and decided to try it again. Nowhere near what Villa Del Lupo was. We likely won't be back. Service was inadequate. Food was decent but nothing special. It was so loud and crowded in there. It looks like they crammed as many tables in to the small rooms as possible, thereby getting rid of much of the ambiance. We were also made to feel rushed out - that, along with the poor service made for a rather unpleasant dining experience.

Not great food, but really enjoyed the music
Submitted Sunday, September 6, 2009 - 12:21am [Dine in]

Food was substandard at best. Went here for hubby's birthday with some friends & none of us really enjoyed the food. It wasn't terrible, but nothing great at all. A couple of us had the gnocchi and it was mushy and not enjoyable to eat. The flavours were decent enough but we had a hard time getting past the texture. The others in our group found their dishes adequate, but no more.

We were really put off when our waitress brought us a small dish of dried chili peppers, advising us to just take a pinch with our fingers. After awhile she then took the dish to give to another table. So gross - how many people have been sticking their fingers in this dish. We were quite disturbed by that and figured it must be against health regulations, and if not, it sure should be!

The jazz band was enjoyable, but we aren't likely to go back just based on food alone.

Excellent dinner

We went here with friends at in late December and we all enjoyed our meals very much. The decor could perhaps use a bit of an update, but it's not terrible. Excellent selections on the dinner menu and wine list. Good service too - we appreciated the waiter's opinions and suggestions. We look forward to going back again.

Not disappointed, but likely won't go back
Submitted Sunday, January 18, 2009 - 3:02pm [Dine in]

Food was decent, but nothing special. Most definitely overpriced for what it is. As well, it was so loud in there, my husband & I were getting tired of having to yell to hear each other. I felt the tables were a bit close together - felt a bit crowded, which probably only added to the noise. Nothing bad about our evening there, just nothing to entice us to go back again.

Our new favourite local restaurant

We were sad to see the previous restaurant leave, but it has been replaced by an excellent restaurant. We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. Service and food are excellent. The menu is small but the selection is more than adequate. The wine list is descent as well. Highly recommended.

Horrible waiter
Submitted Monday, September 8, 2008 - 1:38pm [Dine in]

We came for a birthday dinner for my husband and had always enjoyed our previous visits to this restaurant. I don't know what we did to make this waiter dislike us, but he clearly did. He never came by to see how dinner was, which wasn't a huge deal to us because everything was fine, but we would have appreciated him checking in. Then he brings us the dessert menu and says, “Can I tempt you with the dessert menu?” I replied that we could definitely be tempted (I could not have been clearer that we intended to order something). We made our dessert & coffee choices then waited for him to return to take our order. We waited around 10 minutes or so then he walks by our table and puts the bill down. Of course we were stunned. At this point I wasn't even interested in asking to still order dessert or coffee and was very disappointed by this waiter ruining my husband's birthday dinner like this. What's especially strange is that he offered took dessert orders from the neighbouring tables, so as I said in the beginning of this review, he clearly had it in for us.

Too bad for him, no tip. We are a couple that tip very well when it's deserved, but there was absolutely no tip deserved here.

My favorite Indian restaurant
Submitted Thursday, February 8, 2007 - 4:10pm [Dine in]

I've tried several Indian restaurants over the years around the Lower Mainland & GM is consistently one of the best. They are just as good if not better than many of the higher priced, more "stylish" Indian restaurants in Vancouver. It's a family run business & the people are friendly & food is excellent.
