Overpriced steak but Outstanding service
Submitted Monday, June 14, 2010 - 12:30pm [Dine in]

I thought I gave this restaurant a try despite the so so review since I heard from some friends the restaurants "weren't that bad" and now I regretted that I went and paid the hefty bill for the quality of food I get. My husband and I went on a Sat night and there was only four occupied tables in the restaurant that night. The services were attentive and great, the manager even came to our table a few times to ask us how we were doing. However, for the amount they charge for the food, it is not acceptable. My husband ordered the 3 courses set menu with tenderloin and the tenderloin was tasteless and looked burnt. I ordered the rib-eye, medium rare and it came out as medium and very oily. They claimed to place the steak on a sizzling plate so it might be cooked a little bit more than desired which I don't quite get it? If I ordered medium rare, why can't the chef timed it so that it came out as "medium rare" after the additional cooking on the sizzling plate? And I thought serving veggie are supposed to be a healthy choice but the vegetables that come with the entree were soaked in oil which I can barely eat them (basically my entire entree is soaked in oil).

Honestly I don't know how they can survive for the quality of food and the price they are charging, coz their menu price is not $$ but more like $$$ at least, but I guess since they are hotel restaurant that might help them to sustain their business.

Won't go again.

Very good food but don't expect too much service
Submitted Monday, June 14, 2010 - 12:00pm [Dine in]

This is by far one of my favorite japanese restaruant. Sashimi is fresh and food is well prepared. However, the service is not that great. The servers tend to always be in the kitchen and also hard to get their attention. Other than that, I highly recommend to go here for Japanese food.

Gotham Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar615 Seymour Street, Vancouver
Best steak in Vancouver
Submitted Wednesday, June 18, 2008 - 5:53pm [Dine in]

The best steak I have in Vancouver. Will definitely go back again for special occasions. For appetizer, I highly recommend the Oyster Rockefeller. For entree, you absolutely cannot miss porterhouse steak. Dessert is just so so... nothing too exciting. I found Gotham's price is much more reasonable than Morton's comparing the quality of food they serve.

Very yummy butter chicken
Submitted Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 11:29pm [Dine in]

I went there for lunch all the time and there was never once the food disappointed me. The butter chicken is always my favorite and their naam bread is delicious. The service is attentive as well. If there is one thing that I have bad feedback is their utensils cleaniness. A few times I found the glass that they used to serve water is not thoroughly cleaned and I have to asked them to exchange anothero ne for me. But for the food, I will never hesitate to go back again.

Morton's of Chicago, The Steakhouse750 W. Cordova Street, Vancouver
overpriced
Submitted Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 11:23pm [Dine in]

Went to Morton's the other day. For the price of the steak they charge, it's way overpriced. My steak was burnt. The service was also just so so. Maybe we didn't order wine (I cant drink because I am allergic) and my boyfriend not in the mood of drinking, the whole night the waiter just came by and check with us once. While I saw him chit chat with the other tables (of course they ordered several bottles of wine). Will I go back again? Probably not.

Go if you want to eat really Fatty beef
Submitted Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - 1:27pm [Dine in]

I have been to the Posh in Richmond and Broadway, when Richmond branch first opened, their beef quality was quite good but since then it has gone downhill now. I went to the new Broadway branch the other day and I don't think I will go again unless they change the beef they are serving and their customer service. Although in the menu they said they serve fatty beef, I expect to have half meat half fat but when the beef came, 2/3 of the sliced beef is fat. Some of them are even 4/5 are fat... I am not here to eat fat, I want beef with some fat. The pork is ok.

Plus you better be there EXACTLY on time. I made a reservation at 630pm Sat, a lady there called me at 628PM and told me if I cannot arrive exactly on 630PM she will give the table away... I have never been experienced this kind of customer service before, she (her name starts with M) has a very rude attitude, maybe they have so many customers that they don't care about losing one or two of them. It is understandable to give away the table if the party is late for more than 15mins or so, but less than 5 mins late and they give away table that I reserved more than 3 days ago, they really have to revise their customer service policy otherwise they will be losing more and more customers.

HOT New restaurant in 2007
Submitted Thursday, January 11, 2007 - 8:16pm [Dine in]

We were greeted by the servers and chefs when we got in which is uncommon in a western style restaurant. The spaces between the tables in the middle section were quick tight. We were seated there so basically there is not much privacy.

The ambiance at the restaurant is nice and quiet, all servers are very courteous, price is reasonably. The presentation of the food is nice but nothing too exciting. The menu is quite specialized but most are thoughtfully and cleverly designed, food is fresh and tasty. The overall food quality is very good. The only drawback is the tight seating spaces in the restaurant.

When we left the restaurant, most of the servers and chefs said good bye and thank you to us (reminds me of a Japanese restaurant). I bet this will become one of the hottest new restaurants in 2007. We like this restaurant, enjoyed our evening, and will definitely go back again to try other items on the menu.

I highly recommend the Pumpkin Soup, it's very smooth and the scallop is fresh and cooked just right. The Sloping Hills Organic Pork Crispy shoulder is a really smart combination for an entree as the different textures of pork meat and different cooking methods highlight the distinct taste of each type of meat. Best dessert I love the Pear Beignets. It also comes with grapefruit sorbet which accentuates the taste of the beignet nicely.
