Gotham Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar615 Seymour Street, Vancouver
Reasonably Good
Submitted Saturday, May 3, 2008 - 5:52am [Dine in]

As soon as you walk it, you're thinking BIG. Its a nice place, maybe a bit dark. That was my first impression.

The steaks were good...not outstanding, just good. Mine was a bit over-salted but cooked perfectly, medium rare. We ordered several side dishes to share...all were prepared well. In my opinion, the food is a little overpriced for what you get. The service was average...not necessarily in a bad way, just average.

I would recommend giving them a try at lease once. The food is decent & the decor is pretty cool!

Great Dim Sum
Submitted Saturday, May 3, 2008 - 5:17am [Dine in]

We've been to this restaurant a few times. Everytime, the food has been excellent. Alot, if not most or all of their dim sum items are made in house. No frozen stuff here. No carts here either... you order from a checklist of available items. The service could be a little quicker, but it seems that the food is cooked to order...an average of 10 minutes or so from time of ordering to when food starts to come to the table. The advantage is your food arrives at the table freshly cooked & piping hot...not sitting on a cart & taking a tour of the restaurant for a while!

All in all, great dim sum at a reasonable price.
I highly recommend you give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Just OK, nothing special

I eat here once in a while when I'm in the area, mainly because I can get a bowl of noodle soup fairly quickly for lunch & get on with my day.

The service that I've experienced here has ranged from ok to poor, depending on who you get & their mood that day. The gentleman thats usually up front can be somewhat loud & arrogant at times. I'm guessing he's the son...the father is much more humble. They seem to have a few RCMP friends as can be seen by their pictures on the walls. They also let people sign a wall as well...looks pretty bad!

The food is average. I've tried quite a few of their dishes ranging from beef brisket rice noodle soup to their lunch specials, and also their various items with rice. Ok for a quick lunch when you feel like having some Chinese food...well, western/Chinese food.

After all this, I would still recommend this place for a quick lunch. I suggest that when ordering, point to the item(s) on the menu to avoid any misunderstandings & ignore the guy up front speaking loudly to people.

Incredible food, great service!

I must say that I was impressed with my dining experience here. I took my wife here for dinner on her birthday. The restaurant is fairly small with maybe a dozen tables or so. It made for a nice, cozy atmosphere. We had their "prix fixe" menu, which consists of 3 courses, an appy, main, & dessert, with various selections for each of the courses. Each course was prepared with care & presented beautifully. The food was awesome! ...on par with any high-end restaurant, but at a resonable price. The service was also very good. I would highly recommend giving Cru a try.

Nice decor but really bad food!

We went to this restaurant because a friend had heard about it & wanted to go.
Upon arriving, we had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated. It was lunch time & the restaurant was pretty full...ok, no big deal.
The restaurant looked quite nice, as far as the decor was concerned.
Everyone ordered smoothies except me...I had an ice tea. The smoothies were...ok.
Then the food came. I wish they had kept it! I ordered a mushroom burger...What a disaster! It was horrible! The meat was dry & overcooked. Half of the fries were overcooked as well. Ketchup didn't make them taste any better. Other people ordered an omlette, panini, & cheddar burger. No one liked their food. I tried small tastes of the other meals. I would have to agree with them. I don't like Mc D's very much but, honestly, I think their quarter pounder is prepared better than the burgers we had here. I would HIGHLY advise AGAINST eating at this restaurant. The worse food I have had in a long time.

Top Notch Food
Submitted Thursday, April 17, 2008 - 10:40pm [Dine in]

Isami has been a favorite of mine for years. Their food is top notch. They are priced a little bit higher than the average sushi restaurant, but I think its worth it. The fish is always fresh. Everything from the basic rolls to the sashimi, to the cooked items...all prepared well. I have brought many friends to this restaurant as well as recommending it to many...not one person has had anything bad to say. Give them a try...you won't be sorry.

Decent food at a reasonable price. Noodle soups are definately above average. I like the beef brisket with rice noodle. Other menu choices are also good. Chicken chow mein (crispy noodles) is one of my mom's favorites. Most dishes are served fairly quickly so this is a good place to go for lunch if you're looking for a quick meal. They even have some dim sum items.

2 Thumbs Up!

Now called Ki Sushi, this restaurant was recommended by some friends, so we decided to give it a try. We haven't looked back since! The food is consistantly good, prepared & serve fairly quickly, even when its busy. We go there on an average of about 3-5 times a month. I don't remember ever having a bad meal there. They serve good sushi at a reasonable price. I highly recommend trying them out, if you haven't already done so.
