Bob's Submarine Sandwiches6390 No. 3 Rd, #2, Richmond
Not worth it
Submitted Friday, October 28, 2011 - 1:21pm [Take-out]

I decided to check this place out. I ordered a large turkey club sub for take out. Price $11.80

The sub was very heavy and loaded with onions, lettuce, bacon turkey tomato & cheese. The bacon was good, thick cut and properly cooked but the turkey was the cheapest kind, and it tasted like. The bread was white and not very dense so it couldn't handle everything that was piled onto it. By the time I got to eat it the whole thing was one big sloppy mess. Once I decided to dig into it the taste was ok but the whole thing just wasn't good. The quality of the ingredients was evident as it left a really bad aftertaste.

$12 is pretty close to the most expensive sub I've bought and this was one of the worst. For the price I expect much better quality. I'd rather eat at Quiznos for that price and I don't like that place either.

Kinda Blah
Submitted Thursday, May 21, 2009 - 5:26pm [Dine in]

Saw the great reviews of this place on Dine Here and decided to check it out as we live in the area. The food is mediocre at best and we should have left before we ordered. I ordered a burger and have had better at take out places. Was really hoping this would be a great place to eat out in the neighbourhood but sadly that won't be happening. The only upside was the service. Decent wait staff that were friendly.

Also didn't really get the whole back room thing. There was no info on what was happening in the backroom or that we could have gone there. Shady looking people kept passing by our table and heading to the back. Kind of gave the place more of a massage parlour feel rather than somewhere we wanted to eat.

Great Etheopian
Submitted Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 10:18am [Dine in]

Been to the Red Sea a couple of times. Each time we've ordered the shared dinner for 3 which is a shared plate with 5 different items (2 meat and 3 veg.) All of the items are consistently good, flavourful and filling. The cooked beef can be a bit on the tougher side, (don't know if this is the traditional way) but is very good. The flavours in each dish are outstanding. The beer is a steal at $4 a bottle.

Its a great little restaurant and the owner is always friendly and smiling :-)

Great Eats

Discovered this gem a little while ago and keep going back. As the other reviews state the Peaceful Beef Roll is a must and simply delicious. The won ton soup is also very tasty and not the usual run of the mill. Haven't had anything on the menu that I wouldn't order again. New resolution for 08, eat my way through the menu here.

My Hanh Vietnamese Restaurant646 Kingsway, Vancouver
Changed Ownership in May 07
Submitted Thursday, August 2, 2007 - 4:37pm [Dine in]

After coming back from my vacation I found the original owners has moved on and it was re-opened. It's quite disapointing because we have be going there for a few years.

This place use to be the best in town for Pho and noodle bowls. Everything was crazy fresh and there was something about the food that made it stand out from the other Vietnamese places in the area.

Now its a typical Vietnamese restaurant, nothing special. So long My Hanh, it was good while it lasted.

Food is alright but service is horid
Submitted Wednesday, April 4, 2007 - 3:33pm [Dine in]

The best thing to get at Cafe Crépe is a desert cépe. I particulairly like banana or strawberrys and nutella. mmmmm

Lunch/ dinner just isn't worth the effort of dealing with the wait staff. I have been a few times to eat in over the years and the service is always the same, horrible. Well at least they are consistent. Consistently horrible that is.

Could be Good, but Really Bad Service
Submitted Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 12:16pm [Dine in]

Have been to Library Square a few times for drinks and food. Its pretty nice inside and a great location for pre-game drinks. The food is ok, but the service in this place is just plain bad and the beer is a bit of a rip.

This place has so much potential, they just need to get it together.

Great Pizza, Just Get It To Go!
Submitted Monday, January 15, 2007 - 1:44pm [Dine in]

One of the best thin crust pizza places in the city. Very fresh and flavorful with jus the right amount of sauce.

Do yourself a favour though and order it to go, especially if you don't have kids. The other reviews are spot on, the service is pretty bad.

Pizza is Good but Getting Smaller
Submitted Saturday, January 13, 2007 - 6:23pm [Dine in]

I have ordered take out pizza several times from Pizza from Hell over the past couple of years. The pizza is good especially the Book'em Dan-O. Pizza from any of the chains doesn't even compare.

The thing is they keep getting smaller. When I opened the box of the last 15" er I ordered it looked out of place in the box. Kind of floating around. So I measured it to see if the box was just on the large size. Nope, my 15" pizza was only 12.5". Sorry but if you advertise a size, its got to be close. Makes me feel a bit rip'ed off.

Much better places in Van for Thai food
Submitted Thursday, January 4, 2007 - 2:13pm [Dine in]

The first time I went to Sala Thai the food wasn't very good so I went back a second time. We had stuffed chicken wings, which were the best part of the meal. We also ordered a noodle dish with beef and broccoli, which reminded me of really bad chinese food (overcooked beef and flavourless).

The sad part is the people who work there are always very nice and helpful. Sorry Sala, I won't be coming back.

Best Italian Sanwichs in Town
Submitted Thursday, November 30, 2006 - 2:58pm [Dine in]

I headed over to Finches after reading the reviews on this site. It's close to where I work so I poped over to grab a sandwich to go. I decided on the prosciutto bagette and took it back to my desk. Absolutely amazing. Seriously fresh. No need to head to Commerical Drive anymore. This is my new favourite sandwich place in town.

Great food and service at a nice price
Submitted Tuesday, November 28, 2006 - 12:59am [Dine in]

Decided to finally check out the Water St Cafe for dinner after walking by many times. I have to say I was not disapointed.

I ordered the lamb medallions and they were done just how I ordered them. Delicious. The portions are a decent size too.

The prices are tough to beat for the quality of food. Definately a place I will be going back to.

Cool Place, Great Food
Submitted Saturday, September 2, 2006 - 8:51pm [Dine in]

Went to Habit for the first time on a Sunday night just after it opened. The place wasn't too busy and we had great service. Food was great, and a nice change. The crab cakes (made from sole or halibut) were absolutely delicious.

It's just too bad they don't take reservations as I have seen quite the line ups on Friday and Saturday nights. Probably won't go on the weekends.

What's Up With This Place
Submitted Saturday, September 2, 2006 - 8:30pm [Dine in]

My wife and I decided to go to Fiction on a Friday night around 6:30. We walk by and 2 guys were outside having a couple of beers, a sandwich board was on the street and the door was wide open. We walked in to a completely empty restaurant. We stood at the front and waited to be seated. Several people including someone who looked like they were a hostess pop there head out from the back. This continued for about 5 minutes. People looking at us but no one helping. We waited for another 2-3 minutes looking at each other confused? Was the place closed? Clearly not. So why was it dead at dinner time on a Friday night and no one to help you find a table?

A little disappointed we left for the Greek place across the street. During our dinner there we watched a few other couples to the exact same thing we did. No one stayed.

So what's the deal with Fiction? I had been twice a couple of years ago and quite liked it. Decent food, decent service and overall quite good. Has this place changed hands? Whoever is running the place needs to figure out the whole service thing. I really dont understand how they can be in business with an empty restaurant on a Friday night.
