Tasty fare
Submitted Saturday, January 8, 2011 - 4:03am [Dine in]

While early morning shopping nearby we saw their sign and came back later for lunch to try it out. The small restaurant was nicely decorated with photos on the walls, nice clean tables & chairs, and very clean and also nicely decorated bathroom. We were impressed with the cleanliness & decor.

We shared a Curry Laksa and a Kari Beef Brisket with steam rice. The Laksa was tasty but could've been a bit spicier. The Kari Beef over rice was also very tasty but a bit salty for my palate. The portions were adequate but not generous, especially for the the prices for lunch fare.

Enjoyable location & facilities, good service and good food. But, we'll keep our eyes open for Malaysian restaurants.

Canadian Vietnamese Cuisine
Submitted Friday, March 26, 2010 - 5:29pm [Dine in]

As the title (and their menu) implies, this cafe offers Vietnamese Subs on the front of their menu for $5.00/$6.00 and Vietnamese Cuisine on the back: Pho, stew & bun, soups, grilled lemon grass chicken, meat balls, spring rolls, stir fry, grilled port chops, fried chicken, rice ($6.25-$7.99). Inside the menu, a variety of western & international fare: chicken strips, fries, wings, salad, spring rolls, borscht, breakfasts, (western) sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, steak, teriyaki stir fry - a small but eclectic menu selection.

With my wife & girls, we had 2 bowls of the House Special Pho Dac Biet (2x$6.99) and the girls shared a grilled cheese sandwich & fries ($5.25). The girls raved about the sandwich, and we enjoyed our 2 generous bowls of tasty beef noodle soup. The bean sprouts were already in the soup, along with thin slices of beef, several pieces of meat balls & tendon. Not outstanding, but quite good and sated our lunch appetite. I'll be back to try out their Vietnamese sandwiches, maybe a grill chicken/pork chop rice dish.

There's a good size parking lot at the side, and it's close to Richmond Park & the Eastburn Community Centre (which will be transformed to a new $40M, 88,000 sq. ft. Edmonds Pool & Community Centre, to be completed in late 2011/early 2012).

We keep coming back
Submitted Friday, November 20, 2009 - 5:31pm [Dine in]

I've reviewed this restaurant 3 times (2006, 7 and 8) before this, and am upgrading my ratings in 2009 from 3-3-3-3 to 4-4-4-3. I'm stingy in my ratings as I seldom find places that are 4's and 5's (I know we need to try more places). But based on the fact that we continue to come for Dim Sum 2-3 times/month and for dinner about 3-6 times a year and reflecting on the past 3+ years of dining here, I'm increasing my Food, Service & Value Ratings to 4-Outstanding. Ambiance continues to be 3 as the establishment is clean and functional, but it's not a fancy restaurant. Sometime ago, they added another room that used to be a small store next door to increase their capacity, and their parking lot behind holds quite a few cars (full during busy times of course).

Foodwise, Dim Sum dishes are of good size and everything we've tried has been tasty. We love their Pot Stickers, Singapore noodles (my kid's fave), Pork Har Gow, Steamed Bean Curd with 3 kinds of Mushroom, Eggplant with Shrimp, Chicken/Vegetable Chow Mein, and many more dishes.. Dinners (we usually bring family for birthdays or the odd holiday eat-out) have been terrific. Everything we've ordered has been generously portioned and like Dim Sum, tasty and filling. We like to order Crispy Chicken, Shredded Chicken & Jellyfish, Szechuan Green Beans, Hot Pots, Sweet & Sour Boneless Port (kids fave), Breaded Fish with Mayo-type sauce, Ma Pow Tofu, Various steam fish dishes, and many more...

One thing we need to do is to stop ordering too much. But then we wouldn't have left overs to enjoy.

Good wonton, noodle & rice dishes
Submitted Tuesday, January 1, 2008 - 4:51pm [Dine in]

Our family goes here frequently for good decent Chinese food, wonton with and without noodles, good beef & rice noodle dishes (i.e. sub chow or guan chow which are my daughter's favourite), rice dishes and more; for lunch and occasionally dinner. Good size portions. We order takeout occasionally too.

Usually busy at lunch and dinner times with people waiting for a table. Decently priced lunch menu is found under the hard plastic table top (11:00am to 3:00pm). Set meals available for dinner or order ala carte. Will accommodate requests for off-menu dishes.

Located in a little strip mall next to a pool hall, parking lot in front (but only 4-5 labeled spots, others for other businesses, simple decor, friendly family oriented staff providing decent service.
