(2.9) (3.5) (2.5) (3) (2.5)The Beacon Drive In has excellent ice cream (although a few times I've been there the ice cream was kind of grainy...thats happened with DQ too though) My grandmother made a big deal out of going there for an ice cream when I was a toddler, and honestly...when I get the inkling to go, I still get as excited as I did then! It isnt extravegant, it isnt to die for...Its just a convenient burger/hot dog stand that happens to have great ice cream. I will continue the "Beacon Hill ice cream" tradition with my nephews and nieces, and my own children one day...for as long as they remain open. :)
I've been going to the fifth street for about 8 years now, and the quality of food for the price is fantastic. I never leave disappointed with the food, but the service on the other hand...not so good. We go to restaurants, we pay good money, we deserve to be treated better than they treat us there. They are an extremely busy restaurant most times, so I imagine dealing with disgruntled patrons is difficult. However, a smile and a little conversation definitely wouldnt hurt their tip jar, would it?
They are a great place to go for some good food, just remember not to expect much from the wait staff...
